How to move the player that is receiving a pass?

When I send a normal ground pass to a player, the target of a pass always stays completely still waiting for the ball to arrive on his feet.

The cursor stays on that player as if I could control him, but moving the left stick doesn't make him move - he just stands there no matter what.

Is there some other command to make him move towards the ball instead of stay waiting for it to arrive?

if you are passing directly to him ofc they're supposed to be standing there waiting for it to arrive or else the ball will just go past them.

if what you meant is you want to pass in front of them and want the player to chase the ball, you should use through pass (Y on xbox, triangle on PS controller)

or if you just want to move manually after you make a pass, use manual control (RB+RT / R1+R2) this move only work situationally though and if you are not used to it you'll miss the ball most of the time.

Yes use the manual buttons but you can miss the ball if you hold toolkist long.
So júst before you reach the ball, let go, then the ai lets the player take the ball

R1+R2 is super cancel? Not manual control I think, I use only the R2

yeah that's a slight issue with the game, although sometimes the player is moving towards the ball, other than what the other users said about using the throughball to have a similar effect....there is also manual passing, depending on your control config, as i rememebr you press and hold L! whilst passing as normal....this gives you full control of angle and weight of the pass.......the other thing i don't think has been mentioned is pressing the (again dependant on you config) R2 button just before the pass is completed to trap the ball and execute a better 1st touch, in all fairness i believe the mechanics are like this to give the opposititon the opportunity to intercept
