Updates?
I really enjoyed first game and was looking forward to and placed #2 on my wish list. However, I'm reading reviews and discussion threads that indicate port to Steam PC game version has play issues. I'm reluctant to buy since I don't see any updates/fixes by developers so far.

This review quote concerns me "Although I enjoyed the puzzles and the setting, House of Da Vinci 2 is hampered by its performance, control, and UI issues. It needs a little more polish to be considered a great puzzle game. If you have some patience for the clunkiness of the game and love complicated puzzles, you may want to check it out."

What say you players on this discussion thread?

Yes, the game is a bit laggy or jerky (on a high-spec laptop with dedicated graphics card, 16GB ram and NVM SSD). The background audio is crackly. Double-tapping the trackpad doesn't work to zoom in on things, so having to double-click the left mouse button, which is noisy. Very often I'll double-click on something to zoom in and nothing happens until I repeat this several times. Grabbing things that I know should move often doesn't move them. Then a hint appears, confirms that the item should move, and then I'm able to move it. Frustrating.

Still an enjoyable game. Hopefully these glitches will get ironed out soon.

tl;dr no updates :(

It seems that the devs went on holiday or bankrupt. But then i saw that they are active on twiter and facebook and are even talking about a House of Da Vinci 3...lol so maybe they just don't care, which it's sad.

I think i will come back another day (or year), there will be more sales to get this even cheaper in case they continue ignoring the feedback.

I rebuilt Windows 10 from fresh and now the game runs perfectly. Very entertaining and well worth the money. :-)

Game runs fine for me. Played it without issue. Highly recommend it

Just bought both games blindly in a bundle a few days ago. Running on a windows 7 laptop, had multiple crashes in house 1, 11 in total but was even more determined to complete it because the gameplay was so enjoyable. And, did it in offline mode too, only to try and reduce the crash rate (didn't work well) but at least when I rebooted the game it spawned me back to the same place I was when it crashed and all the solved puzzles were still solved, phew.

I've just started house 2 a couple of days ago and it's crashed 3 times in the opening chapter and the spawn point is always that god forsaken table with the closed pine cone sticking up out of it, when I was way past that area when it crashed. Having to redo solved puzzles is really unpleasant.

And now reading your post, drc409 and the replies dating back nearly 2 years complaining about the same issues we have today, tells me the developers don't care and that these gameplay issues are here to stay.

We were there when they needed us to buy their product but where are they when we need them to repair and update the product. I'm going to be more careful if a House of da Vinci III is released before I purchase it.

I can still play house 2 offline but when it crashed and the spawn point was the table, I switched to online mode, hoping it would save my progress, and it crashed again, and likewise the spawn point was the table, so I've worked out that it matters not whether you're in offline or online mode, this game does not have progressive saving and will spawn you back to the start of the chapter...so backwards, compared to the first game.

I didn't buy/play this game until 2021 after devs posted that a number of updates were made. I don't recall fully now but I don't remember issues while playing. 'Enjoyed game and I look forward to da Vinci 3 but I'll wait to buy until I see game's discussion thread feedback.

Thanks. Didn't know there were updates. Went searching and found discussions about them but I don't know how to install them.
drc409 Jun 20, 2022 @ 4:46am
I can tell you how to check for/install updates when online if you'd like; I don't play offline so I can't help with that.

Ta. Found them, installed them and graphics and gameplay have been greatly improved.
Been playing online and crashed once when computer got too hot. Put it up on blocks for better airflow, no more dramas...so far.
