Edit: As of now, a lot of the missing features have been added. I will cross those out.

Before I say anything, I wish I can give a thumbs middle recommendation. If you don't like the game, good for you, you're entitled to your opinion. Yes, this game has problems, a lot of problems for that fact. BUT HEAR ME OUT PLEASE. Blame contracts for the incomplete game. Milestone has to release an MXGP & MESX licensed game every year by a FIM/Feld contract. I'm not 100% sure if this is the reason behind the scenes but think about it, Milestone is based in Italy where COVID hit hard early in the year. Due to the pandemic, they probably haven't had as much time to as they usually do to make the game, not to mention that they usually only have a 4ish month develop time. So yes, the game is incomplete but please consider that Milestone NEEDED to release the game to fulfill the yearly release contract. I'm the one usually not defending Milestone here but I feel like they need a little pass due to how tough this year has been. To those complaining about "where is the track editor" and "where are the next two tracks" they will be added within a week.

I know, I only have 2 hours in the game so far and my opinions will change. I want to get this review out ASAP because I highly doubt anyone will be viewing this game after a few days.

Here is the important part of the game, the gameplay.

• Yes, the game is arcady. Its supposed to be. If you're complaining about it being too arcady, go back to MX Simulator or MXBikes.
  
• The physics feel way better in MXGP2020 than the previous two titles, MXGPPro & MXGP2019. I really don't understand why so many people in the reviews are saying MXGP19 was great. (Once again, your opinion, you're entitled to it). In MXGP19, the ADV physics were pure garbage. Almost unplayable. Random fall offs, corners felt like ice and Tokyo drifting every corner, and stuck in loop outs when crashing just to name a few physics annoyances. Which led to having to play in the standard physics to get rid of the annoyances which meant that your steering was stiffer than corpse. Before you say "MaD cUz BaD" I've been playing Motocross games for over 15 years and have raced pro in Mx Sim for 5 years. I know the difference between being inexperienced with the ADV physics vs it being a joke. In MXGP2020, the bike actually feels grounded, no more sliding around, no more random loopouts etc. There still isn't track deformation in these games but, Milestone added inside berms and little bit of track roughness in this game which makes it feel more like a motocross game rather than a Motogp game with jumps that MXGP19 & Pro was.
  
• The in air physics are quite fun. You have more freedom and it looks more natural in this game. Whips are still canned/scripted animation unfortunately but at this point, I really don't care.

Even though I have been defending this game, I still have problems with it.

• There is an artificial bog on the bike when going up hills or steep jumps.
  
• Tapping the joystick or making micro adjustments for turning looks like your rider is tank slapping in most corners.
  
• Using the leaning while going slow or just over using the leaning, your rider would fall over or look like you are literally scrubbing on ground. This isn't really new but it seems more prominent in this game.
  
• The jumps on the tracks are scaled too small. This is also nothing new to milestone games. On the flip side, the tracks are wider in this game. In previous titles, they felt too narrow at times.
  
• The bike physics do not work well with objects/assets that aren't the ground. Good luck trying to make fun enduros that involve going over rocks.

Lastly this is all the stuff missing from the game which I know some of these are going to be resolved but some of these problems are small that I am worried will be overlooked in the next updates. (im sure I am missing a few)

• Obviously no track editor and missing two official tracks as stated earlier but will be added next week.
  
• Can't resize your fonts on your jersey unlike previous titles.
  
• Can't load your setup in online races & time attack mode.
  
• Time attack leader board is missing.
  
• You have to re-select which physics, rider aids, etc. before EVERY online race.
  
• On the Milestone website they advertised an increase in online lobby size but its still a max of 12 players.
  
• Free ride map is rather lacking along with not a whole lot of enduro support unlike the MXGP19 free ride map had.

This has been a quickly written review as I know I have missed some points. I still want to make it clear that if you don't like the game, I am not forcing ANYONE to like it because I do. I just want to bring up the points of what Milstone had to possibly hurdle during development of this game.

I hated this game at first

I have played every Milestone MX game out there. I have raced MX for thirty years... I'm kinda picky :).

I absolutely love this game now. The recent updates, moving to pro physics and the track detail has really made this game pop. I feel like I can finally play this game the way I'd like to race in real life. The scrubs are better, the cornering is better, timing, and overall mechanics make this game stick out. The PS4 controller support seems to work really well.

A few tips:

Cornering
- For berms, use your front brake and shift the rider weight forward. Let off the gas a bit and hold that weight forward and roll the gas on once the apex is hit.
- For flat corners, go wide, as you're approaching the corner hit the back brake a bit to get the back to kick out a bit and then start to roll on the throttle. Feel the balance. If you can, lean back as you exit the corner to get a direct drive out.

Jumping
- Timing is everything with jumps. Lean back to get some more pop, lean the rider forward to stay low. Use throttle to time it right.
- For scrubbing, this is the first milestone game I feel got scrubbing clean. Before I found it really difficult to get the rider to come back. The trick with this game is to scrub and immediately lean forward to land on the back of the jump. So thumbs out (or in), then before landing push your thumbs to lean the rider forward and come out of the scrub.

Milestone is generally bad but this release is straight up deceitful. They have charged full price for a game with missing content, worse physics, no 1st person camera, an EXPONENTIALLY WORSE 3rd person cam, and no track creator(???) Without telling consumers. The trailer above even shows off these features. Where are they? Not to mention the physics are just straight up childish.


Edit - Looks like the missing content has been added back in. All in all I still wouldn't recommend the series on a yearly basis.

I would strongly recommend not purchasing this game. To anyone wanting to buy a motocross game, I highly suggest that you wait and purchase a game by a different developer entirely. This game at release was unpolished and was missing loads of content, some of this was added later after release. In promo material for this game multiplayer "playground" (the games free roam mode) was promised to players as well as multiplayer of the waypoint mode. Since the games release, these modes have been scrubbed from the website as if multiplayer was never an option. I along with other friends purchased this game expecting the multiplayer playground content which has not come and all trace has been removed from the games website. Articles from other companies still have quotes from the devs saying this content will be in the game. On top of lying to their buyers the grind is challenging and the physics are slippery and uncontrollable unless you upgrade your motorcycle. This game is not worth the money and due to false promises I highly recommend that you do not buy this game. I believe false promises like this are illegal and Milestone can easily be sued for trying to cover this up if anyone at all cared.

The only positives this games has is sound and graphics, it is a pretty game and sounds excellent. Besides that I still recommend avoiding this game at all costs. Hopefully Milestone gets it together.

Just not very good. I'm a huge fan of dirt bikes and almost anything that has to do with them. Played almost all the previous games along with the MESX, MX Sim, MX Bikes, MX Vs ATV and riding a real bike and this is just off... It doesn't feel good or fluid at all. It almost feels like a cheaply made phone game... I wish I was being sarcastic. The AI are annoyingly dumb how they race you and make no sense in their moves or even understanding you're around really. I tried for so long to like it, luckily my 4 year old can enjoy it...although even he prefers MX Vs ATV. Track editor is not very good, even with the addition of "elevation". Graphics are good for a dirt bike game. Will not be buying into this franchise anymore, even with the price drop it was not worth it. Way better option for cheaper out there.

If you're looking at this thinking "YEAH! DIRT BIKES!" slow the F down.
This is a hardcore sim. I knew this coming in and it still didn't prepare me for how tough it is.
I'm giving this a positive review not because I like it but because it's a well-made game. It's just not my kind of game.

I was super excited for MXGP 2020 this year. I loved 2019 a lot and was hoping 2020 would be at the very least just an improvement on the handling and graphics.
As far as the graphics go, I think MXGP 2020 is stunning and running it a consistent 120fps at 1440p is beautiful!
However my hopes of better handling was not fulfilled.. well not quite.. the handling from the third person perspective is bloody awful! The rider hardly reacts at all and the camera is just naff.. But if you make the adjustment to helmet cam you'll find this game really shines. The handling feels natural and responsive and to me is the only way to play this game currently. I would still like to see tear offs make a return and more dirt and grime on the helmets and goggles.
I've never cared for custom tracks, I've always played these games for career mode and replicating terrific races in video game form. But that feature is very much like last years instalment

I would highly recommend this game to bike fans and racing fans but only to purchase on sale as I don't feel it warrants the full price.

This is the worst motocross game that Milestone has ever made.

You have destroyed MXGP 2019 with this game. You have not improved anything, everything is worse. I honestly feel ripped off.

MXGP 2020 is definitely not finished, circuits are missing, editor mode is missing, the physics are very bad, the circuits look very bad, the pilot looks very bad.

If you want a motocross game buy MXGP 2019.
MXGP 2020 is garbage.

Steering has completely changed from Mxgp 19, feels too arcadey and light. Sad to say but its disappointing and ill be refunding. At this stage I will not recommend Mxgp 20, Mxgp 19 Is the better game.
