What's next for the Puyo Puyo series?
I don't know the sales number for this game, but I would like to think it's successful

But after a sequel the game that help spark interested in the brand in America, what do you think is next for the series here?

Personally, while I'm forever thankful for Tetris for helping getting Puyo out the door, I do think it's best that they proabaly part ways in the foreseeable future, as I don't want Puyo to be forever closely tied to the game, plus there has been rising conflict with the two community

A 30th Anniversary Edition is a must at this point. Nothing less than that. Please, SEGA!

I am hoping for 30th Anniversary, but the Puyo twitter guy did say that sales numbers are going to determine whether Sega keeps doing stuff with the series in the West. I'm hoping after the Tetris' games success they try out another solo venture that...isn't Champions (and don't point at Champions' low sales and go "SEE? THEY HATE IT")

I'd also love some more localizations, even if fans have a lot of those covered. Chronicle, please!

I thought Sega actually said they were pretty pleased with Champions' sales overseas. But god I hope the future of the series doesn't depend on the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crossover, especially considering what an awful mess this rehash is. Puyo has been doing great up until this point and that was the time for them to take advantage of it with a full game. I'm afraid they wasted their opportunity with half-baked buggy ctrl-v, the game already hasn't done great on console and for good reason honestly. It deserved to fail, but Sega's going to take the wrong lesson from it.

While I agree that this was a bit of a cash grab game with plenty of flaws, keep in mind it also boasts what is probably the best writing in the Puyo franchise (at least in a VERY long time) when it comes to Adventure Mode--a fact which may be laughable to hardcore Pro Gamers, but is actually really nice to see for the fans who've gotten into the franchise for the quirky characters (really what sets it apart from a standard Tetris game or falling blocks puzzle).

At this point, we really just have to see what comes of it.

I've enjoyed the writing in Adventure up til stage 5-2 with the Ecolo/Ringo bit. That kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

Eugh, yeah, I immediately remember the scene you're referring to. I'm sure Sega didn't mean it to come across like... that, but how did no one notice how creepy it is? What did they think they were going for?

Right, especially when it comes to the upcoming Steam Deck handheld. Furthermore, all current Puyo Puyo games (including the Tetris series and Champions) need to be patched to work with the Steam Deck controls.

Steam Deck should work out of the box like any other controller, no patch needed.

A native Linux port to go with it though, that would be a dream come true.
