The game has a very very VERY slow process of upgrading, where you raise one tool level to build another tool, to get the level needed to upgrade another tool, so you can raise your level again, so you can upgrade the workshop to hold higher level tools. Repeat to infinity and beyond. It takes a LONG time.
Later when you need to make your buildings and furniture from exotic materials the cooldown timers on the gathering nodes will be the longest delay.
One early quest requires 9 blankets, 3 each of 3 different types. One type has only one node that players that young can access. It has 5 cloth and you need 15 to make a blanket, so you have to harvest and wait nine times to complete that quest alone. It's also a good material for other things...
Even early buildings can take 200 materials to make....
Expect to be multitasking a lot because you can't just focus on one quest until it's done (unless it's a kill x combat task).
I currently have a chisel with 6 stoneworking requirements. The scraper I wanted to build for the quest required 7 (which is what stopped me from building it).
So, first, go to your domain map, which shows all of your buildings. Locate the startup workshop and click on the 'Stoneworking Marquee.' You should see a chisel that needs to be replaced with a better tool, in this case, a chisel rated 7 or higher. To make that workshop tool, go to Crafts and click on Stone Chisel, then select certain resources that lets you go higher than 6 for the Stone Chisel.
Return to the startup workshop and click on the current chisel you needed to replace with the new one you just built. Return to the Crafting workshop tools and you should be able to successfully craft your very own scraper.
a) Workshop with high enough limit
b) Tools in the workshop slot(s) with high enough value
c) High enough skill (including bonus from companions and clothes)
d) Enough materials in your domain (not backpack)
e) Recipe for the item you want to make.
If its not working, you are lacking one of these.
Unfortunately just saying "its broken" doesn't allow anyone to help you.
Maybe send a screenshot to discord?
Thanks, this answered the question for me! :) I know a year old, but still.
