Buying chests issue
Ok, so months back I had next to no keys in my inventory because I bought chests to use them. However for the last few months the four lowest quality chests, wooden, frozen, slimy and limestone have all required you spend 2 diamonds to get a chest. They will no longer let you use coins to get them. And I'll be damned if I am using precious diamonds to buy low quality chests!!

So they have mounted up till I now have over 60 keys in each type in the four lowest chests ... 60!! and I can't use them to open chests because I hardly get a chest when I go adventuring and they cost diamonds to open otherwise.

What has happened? Its like a switch was flicked somewhere to prevent people buying lower quality chests with coin, but why?!

The market is purely player driven, though. Costs going up usually means supply is going down.

I can't speak for everyone, but I know I've had a hard time collecting low level chests for a while because my heroes are busy with the higher level quests, collecting materials for higher blueprints. I have plenty of extra high level chests, but only a handful left of lower ones.

My guildmates have also been complaining about lacking low level chests, and that selling high level chests used to be super profitable but now is basically useless, so it seems to be a bit of a trend.

As for your extra keys, you can always try to collect some extra chests yourself, or fuse them into chests (during the full moon or by buying Mundra). One key can be turned into 5 chests this way, and you could sell your extra chests for gems since people are kinda desperate these days.

This is going to be the problem with low level chests since at some point you stop needing those mats enough to justify sending your heroes to those regions except to fight bosses.

Either skip them or merge keys into chests. There isn't really much of value in them anyway.

Hm, I didn't know about the using keys to make chests, but then I don't have Mundra as I hardly ever use fusion and I wasn't going to pay $18 for something I hardly ever use. I guess I'll just have to send out my guys on low level missions in the hopes of getting a chest drop.

Sadly marke titems are limited to x10 the gold coins of the default price. So if players think that x10 is too little then it makes it nearly impossible to get that item for gold since nobody is willing to sell their items for so little money.

And well, you don't need Mundra to fuse those chests, just wait for a full moon and make them then, a full day is more than enough time to make really many chests as especially the lower tier chests don't take much time to be made.
