Cannot connect Epic and Steam account

Doesn't work. Only option was to enter an email (no shop titan id like the mobile and steam version on the epic one), which I did, but it made me make a new account instead of connecting to the existing one.
Now I'm locked out from ever trying to connect to my account on Epic due to this new account, which I haven't even given a name to yet.
Nice... Guess the Epic event wasn't meant to be...

You needed to set up the account on your Steam / Android device, then enter the same email on the Epic one. It does work, as thats what I did

What do we do if we started the wrong way around to make sure we don't end up with the wrong shop? The steam client gives me a button that says "switch user" and I don't know what happens if I press it to complete the process. Definitely want to keep the shop from steam, NOT start over with a new user from kazam connect / epic.

Yes. Make sure you use "Kaban Cross Connect" on the old platform, and import the account on the new platform.

If you already have an account on Steam, then use Kaban Cross Connect on Steam, import the account on Epic, and finally unlock the content on Epic.

In my case, I had no Steam account prior to the Epic promotion. So I have created an account on Epic, unlocked the content at level 8, used Kaban Cross Connect, then imported the account on Steam.

I already asked this one the patch notes here on steam and they said no. The dude above didnt have a account apparently he didnt read you said existing ones.

If you bring over the new one the old one is gone.

You have two platforms, and you can import an existing account to a new platform. Once you do, the two platforms are linked, and whatever is unlocked on one platform is unlocked on the other. Just do things in the correct order.

I don't think the answer contradicts mine. You have to use EGS to unlock content.

If You import you will import not only the unlocked stuff but the new account and copy over your old one. This will only work if you dont have one already.

A mod says even in that thread you can not bring over the free content to your steam account. If you dont have a steam account like this person said they did then yes it well work but if you have one you will overwrite your old game here on steam and paste the new one over it with the new game and the new content but your old game and progress will be toast.

No, in this case, you "create" a new account on Epic by importing your Steam account. Then your two accounts are linked, and you just have to unlock stuff on Epic, without ever touching your Steam account.

If it is not clear, then I agree that it is better that you don't touch anything. However, to me, it is pretty clear that you can do it the right way, as this guy did:

That is not what I understand. They wrote that the free content will have to be unlocked on EGS. The promo is not on Steam.

You have repeated this several times. Do you know someone to whom this has happened? Is there any evidence that this event can happen? That is a seriously strange process to overwrite old accounts when connecting platforms. I don't see how that is possible, given that you will import your old account on the new platform, and NEVER CREATE ANY NEW ACCOUNT.

Once again, if things are not clear, better be safe than press the wrong buttons, but to me, things are pretty clear and the process seems straightforward.

For me it was pretty easy to connect them and grab the freebies. Though I guess it is kinda scary if you first create a new account on epic and then connect that new account to your e mail adress without first connecting your main account to your e mail .... that does sound like a pretty great way to lose your account if you actually continue and overwrite your steam account with it.
I personally skipped the account creating part on epic since below the create button was a button for those who already have an account where I could simply log in with my e mail.

Everyone who entered an email address that already had a kabam account (no matter if that account was associated with epic or anything) has a 'switch user' button instead of the connect button and no one seems to know what that switch button does. Has no one ever pressed that button? There does not seem to be a way to undo that and enter a different email. There's only that button.

The reason as to why I started a new account was because that was how it worked in the mobile version in the past. I had to run through the entire process of making a new character, then complete the tutorial, until I could access the options for the ID button.
I unfortunately assumed I needed to do the same thing for the Epic account. Which does not have the ID button I'm talking about, only the Kabam account button. I used the same email as I always do for all games to sign in, assuming if I played the game I probably had already used it before to sign up, unfortunately, that was not the case. Then and there, after entering and confirming my email, I actually made a new Kabam account instead. I cannot undo the email part of the process on Epic, so I am locked out of connecting to my Steam and Mobile account on Epic forever. That is fine though, I didn't lose anything I didn't already have.
