Steam requires a set date for preorders. You can’t sell a preorder for a game with no release date. Steam doesn’t allow it.

If a game sits in preorder too long, it will be impossible to refund for some people because debit/credit card expire over time.

It’s a legality thing.

I was like "huh, refund request of 50 euro's? How, last time I wanted and needed a refund was about 3 weeks ago. Are they still paying me back for something else? I have been missing these 50 euro's for so long?" but no, it's just Prison Architect 2 that got. Not cancelled. But still kinda did. Must have cost you allot of money. And the popularity will also suffer. Since I was very excited for it, and now a little less. Since this takes a bit TO long now. Sure it might be because there is a lack of performance and content. But overall, did you not know this from the start? How poorly was this time table to release it made? Way to high expectations of the team I suppose. Beauty takes time. So take it. Rather have people not know about it and being a project that nobody knows about and then all of a sudden buys because excitement. Than this I suppose. Either way tho, you have to come up with something very great, since well, expectations are very high now, but also pretty low and scary since it was not good enough to release yet. Like, are you going to make the game the best or just standard so it can release?

So first it was a nice video of very little game play, followed a week later by a Preorder and May release date. That changed to a Sept release date. Now we get a refund and another BS message about how we really want to make a good game and we're really sorry but we have no release date. I gotta be honest, I may not be here when you actually decide to release something. This sounds like the Skull n Bones fiasco. Good Luck but I think I'm done with this studio.

Not gonna lie, if you released the game in a "bad state" no one would trust you guys again. This is coming from someone that played Cities Skylines 2, waited a long time for that game and I was appalled.

So what I am saying is, take you time. Polish the game. Optimise it e.t.c. The fact that you guys tell us what you are doing is good enough for me.

Looking forward to the "new, improved and ACTUALLY tested" prison architect 2!!

I totally agree. I was a pre-order, but I'd rather have a sick game than a rushed one!

I’m disappointed but agree you need to take your time and do it right, too many games are rushed out too early. But I do wish you wear offering an early access or something.

Only reason I found out about the delay was seeing ~$74 in my wallet.

Me personally, I'd have been fine with just a delay (even a year) and an, apology isn't the right word but is close, the refund is a nice add-on to that.

I won't lie, I am not happy about this, I get it but I have been waiting since a couple of months before the push back too sept. This doesn't mean I won't get the game, I have always been a fan of PA and I want too play this one too. is there no way I can pre purchase the game again? I would rather just put the refund back into waiting for it. In addition maybe allowing some of us a chance to test maybe not the whole game but sections of it for you with feedback on what our system specs are and how they performed. Surly this data would help you get the game up and running a little faster with a broader focus group?
