Prison Architect 2

Mac news?
Has anyone heard anything about a Mac silicon version? I love the first game but it's, well, top down...

City Skylines 2 doesn't have a Mac version which may be indicative for Prison Architect 2. Hopefully Paradox hasn't abandoned us...

I mean, Cities Skylines is on Mac. I'm sure PA2 will come at some point, probably not at launch, or close after it...

As soapbar said, Cities Skylines 2 is not on mac and, with the way it has been received, probably won't be. I would have thought PA2 would have been, though...

Cities Skylines is on Mac, so hope is not lost. Cities Skylines 2 however, is sort of on Mc through Windows dual boot, but it's far too much hassle to play a game which was never meant for intel or silicon Mac's. I'm sure PI will release PA2 on Mac if it gets enough traction. I mean, it's not like PI doesn't have the resources to make it for it. The only question is if there's any profit in it.

I know apple has been trying to push for more games to come to Apple silicon, so hopefully there will be enough traction and apple makes it more easy/profitable to port games.

With the surge of silicon compatible games since M1, I'm sure there are tons of games on the way. Sadly we live in a time where game development takes longer. In the past, Rockstar, for example, dropped over half a dozen games in 10 years. But in the past 10+ years they've only dropped two. The same applies for smaller studios. I'm sure PA2 will make it to Mac eventually, but Cities Skylines 2, too heavy for a Mac to run. Cities Skylines barely starts... I can comfortably play Prison Architect without melting my computer. Minecraft, etc, will cause alarming heat. I do own a PS5 and a Switch OLED so I'm not in a huge need for PA2, but it would be nice as I prefer 3D or 2D games over top down.

None of those are too heavy to run, just very poorly optimised. The thing is, though, they don't need to redevelop the game from scratch, they just have to port it, which can be done reasonably efficiently (depending on the devs' experience), from my understanding.

So in other words, too heavy to run at the moment. That said, any city building game is quite intensive even on Windows and to expect a Mac to run them is crazy. 100 villagers is fine, but when you get past that, even my ex gaming PC struggled and it had high end parts. There's just too many things happening at the same time. With that said, I'm curious about PA2 performance. It does look very crisp and all, but it also looks like it requires some serious parts.
