This game is too frustrating to enjoy
I loved the first one, 100%'d it in a couple of days, but this game, despite some of the cool things it does, is just too frustrating to play! It really does feel like specific levels are built around specific characters, and some of the moving platform sections are a huge exercise in frustration (Worst clocktower segment of any castlevania game I've ever played, classicvania and precision platforming SUCK) Combine that with some truly frustrating bosses (the pharoah in episode 2, Gremorie's weird angled fireballs and impossible to read move-set.) Combine that with some weird check leveling (Enjoy having to do the entire platform clocktower section again when you lose) and I'm basically done, I can't play this on veteran as intended.

I guess I can just turn on casual and face-tank everything, but I really feel that the ball has been dropped here...

Hahahaha. Didn't you ever play some of the really hard Castlevania games like Castlevania Chronicles? It's time to be a man.

Gremory's "impossible to read" moveset is one of the most heavily telegraphed in the game. She literally tells you exactly what she's gonna do before she does it.

"Its time to be a man". Uh bruh, its a videogame, a literal toy, a piece of entertainment. Its supposed to be enjoyable, not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chore. Theres enjoyable challenges, then theres length padding and artificial difficulty. This game falls into the latter. First game was great and everyone agrees. But alot of people have the same opinion that this time the devs took the "git gud" approach way too far and it does make the game a turn off at a certain point.

Lets take Megaman Zero games for example. Theres some hard ass ♥♥♥♥ in there, alot of challenge. But its FAIR because zero controls way better than these stiff Cotm characters and he has more variety in what he can do, thus if you invest in learning how to utilize the characters skills and moveset and mobility, youll be aight. Whereas in Cotm2 everything is very "you gotta have this exact character with this exact subitem and you have to jump at this exact time do this exact thing to pass this screen etc' its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ obnoxious

The game has a mode that has you playthrough the entire game with a single character of your choice. The fact the game can be beaten with any one character proves that isn't true at all. Try to improve instead of claiming a game must be bad if you're bad at it.

Gonna have to agree with that. I don't know what it is, the level design or character design or both, but this just isn't the fun-hard the first game was.

The game is hard, that retro kind of cheap frustrating hard. Some people, such as myself, love it, for others, such as yourself, it is not going to be their cup of tea. Castlevania 3 was harder than Castlevania 1, curse of the moon 2 is harder than curse of the moon 1, that is by design. I was able to beat all 4 episodes on veteran, I died allot, I expected to, but I still enjoyed it the entire time.
If you do not like the games difficulty that is totally fine, there are other games out there that offer a more fair challenge. For me though, this game is amazing, even better than the first in fact. The first game was to easy, it didn't give me that true retro challenge that I was craving.
If they end up making a third game, I hope it's just as difficult as the second.

i play sometimes on this game, its hard but fine, also hard is subjective, you need to know the stage to intend to pass it thats all. you won't pass your first try wich is fine. I won't say its better than the first one, for exemple soundtrack is way better in the first one. I don't like the track in curse of the moon 2.

Game is just not worth your time at all, unless you are someone who likes cheap hard games, games that are not even slightly similar to Inticreates' best ones.
To me some bosses feel like they were trying to make a new game like Megaman Zero, and a fun one, but then they just thought "what if we make this game as a new Curse of the Moon?", and proceeded to port MMZ mechanics in the most poorly planned way possible while maintaining the original level and boss design, the sarcophagus boss on Episode 2 just proves my point. Things don't quite fit together in this game, and it's not even fun to try to experiment new playstyles.
"Muh just git gud" I can just turn Hachi's invincibilty on to make boss fights tolerable, where is the skill behind this? It's a cheap solution that serves as an excuse to make cheap difficulty. I understand when I'm bad at a game and I need to improve my skills, but I also understand when a game's difficulty is just bad, cheap and not fun... like this one.
I feel bad when I play this game. I played their Megaman games last year and I fell in love with most of them, then I played their recent games and they just don't have the same quality, except CotM1 and Blaster Master Zero. And seeing one of their only good 2D series just becoming another boring one is sad, really.

Unless you pick Legend mode this game's difficulty is fairly reasonable in my view. Legend mode alone is significantly lowering this game's enjoyable degree to the Hell

I tried to play on Legend first but I gave up on stage 3 lmao not my thing.
Unfortunately the game is only fair because of Hachi's invincibility, because the game treats "making your own playstyle" in boss fights as something a retro hardcore player would do, which in CotM1 wasn't at all. I could easily beat them without using subweapons while in this one it just feels like Mighty Gunvolt all over again: ok to good platforming sections and unpolished bosses.

The only unfair aspect of this game is not giving you "anime" Zangetsu from the beginning, or make your way to that level of power as you progress through the stages. He's so sub-par to the point i was only using him to tank hits.

100% agree
I agree with you both. 100% in the 1st game. I just can't get into this one. I'm currently in the clock tower as well, it's not fun at all. Just a chore. Also, I feel like the controls are not as precise as they should be for a game designed with difficult platforming.
