I also don't like the hard difficulty, I don't mind playing on an easier difficulty on my first playthrough, but hard is way too easy. I mean, if it's as easy as the first title, half assed crafts would already make us invincible.
By the time we unlock charismatic, we'll probably have ways to cheese the crafting system, and I'd rather try to optimize my gear with limited options (When we got those effect spread 2 materials with all elements in ryza 1, the crafting got too easy).
Tested on Blue Puni and the HP scaled:
2 has 81 HP
3 has 162 HP
4 has 324 HP
I assume 4 is Charismatic difficulty or whatever they called it.
Also, you can actually have the game save this difficulty setting so you wont need to use cheat engine anymore. Open the settings in the main menu, set the value to 4 with cheat engine, then go back to the main menu and a prompt will pop up asking if you want to save your changes because the game detects the changed value in memory. Accept the changes and the game will save this setting. The difficulty selection will show Easy but the game will actually be set to Charismatic and you don't need cheat engine anymore.
Will try that.
Edit: Yes, it seems to save the setting (though the ingame menu will display it as "Easy" and if you save the settings via there it will, therefore, revert it to "Easy").
Games too easy, again and I'm not even at the 2nd ruins that deep and I'm already level 22.
Though I don't think difficulty affects quality in drops in this game, the description says it only affects Cole earned in battles.
The monsters have a lot more HP (as the Puni progression shows) and they hit a lot harder. According to the description, they also have a few extra special attacks on Charismatic (though I haven't tested enough to see this yet, as I plan on playing on Very Hard instead).
But I am wondering if I should up the difficulty to very hard instead of hard. That seems to cause a 50% jump in HP (and who knows about other stats/damage), wondering if that will be worthwhile starting out a fresh game or if that would make it more of a headache then fun.
I just changed my ongoing save from Hard to Very Hard (I'm still pretty early into the game) and it was a nice change, for me - I can still defeat the same enemies that I could before, but the fights are more interesting.
