Quitting SS14 and heres why

With less than 100 hours in SS14 ive received 2 server bans 1 for 24 hours from frontier station and a 3 day from funky station. Now as someone whose brand new to the game and seeing dozens of UI buttons and pages. this game is impossibly hard to learn and follow. Now as a new player i wasnt expecting every single server to have different rule sets. Every server haws its own thing and i vibe with that. but what i dont vibe with is blatant disregard with how newcomers are treated. If me joining a server and building my own ship while vibing with friends teaching me how to play is ban worthy then i dont wanna play this game or any of its servers.

I quit SS14 and 100% of the blame goes to Frontier Haptia.

I see why this games playerbase has stagnated.

Theres no tutorial area to show players what to do or how to interact. Theres no basic rundown of what each role does. And theres walls apon walls of text for stuff you do want to learn. you cant just pick up and wrench and say "in an engineer" someone has to teach you every single step of the way and hand hold you until you just get it.

This games great and i love it but its community doesnt know how to treat people right and for that reason alone im out.

It doesn't help most of the servers are populated by tight nit close friend groups of equally socially awkward jokers who exist purely in that game as their only form of social interaction. It's almost as bad as the Dwarf Fortress community but doesn't have the same sneering superiority as they do, this is just straight up toxicity early 2000's style.

Plus there's the fact a lot of these servers are admin'd by people friends with the current developers of this port and share the same ideals and thus, will be allowed to get away with whatever they want. Try SS13, plenty of youtube videos explaining how to do everything and far more roleplay than the absolute chaos that is this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a port.

Every GAME server has its own rules and standards of play. What do you expect? If you were banned, then I bet it was for a good reason.

Oh, and by the way, MANY of these guys making this port are volunteers! they do not get paid for what they are doing, if you think you can do better then why not shut your mouth and stick your hand up with your own code!

As someone with 3k hours in, you are exactly the type of arse void that makes the game unenjoyable for new players. Could have just went "yeah its complicated, heres a link to help" instead of acting like a wetbrained goober.

Bro this is exactly why nobody want to join, too many rules + its not in game.

I can recall getting role-banned for over a week because I kept someone detained for a bit too long (ie: a few minutes) and they threw a fit over it and (Presumably) raised hell until the admin punished me.

Sorry but what right do you have to assume? maybe ask people on the server I play and MANY will say that I help a LOT especially to new players, I never said that I do not help, BUT the way I learnt was from those exact links, you can't make excuses, either learn or be lazy and don't learn and then don't play.

Dude, I was playing Terraria the other day and THAT is a game that needs a wiki open in another window just to get by, a lot of games are like that these days. Some are games are deep with the detail and that is what makes them special, its either your thing or not.
