The constant need to third party accounts (rather than using steamworks). They even locked down the steam discussions at one point and FORCED players to use their forums.
This game will not last long if they keep this attitude up. But I guess time will tell.
Also a switch will feel good, not only because of the engine but because /tg/ has been wiping their ass with their codebase for years now.
This was done with the express purpose of giving you more freedom. This allows you to
They were closed because the average post quality was very low, and because Steam discussions are pretty barren of features. Anyways, we enabled it again and here we are.
The conclusion is that SS14 is one of the only games that is open source and allows you to host everything, from the game server to the hub yourself. That seems like the opposite of power hungry to me.
uh, have you actually read any of those steam "discussions"? the average "discussion" on steam is about on par for a twitter or youtube comment section, aka: extremely low quality posts that only serve to instill anger. They're in their full right to direct discussions to a place they can more easily moderate it (especially since there is an age restriction that is actually enforced for SS14, unlike steam, $5 those kids were part of the issue)
I'm honestly kinda surprised they decided to reopen steam discussions.
