Is there a way to play Battle City with local co-op?

When I was a kid I loved playing Battle City with my mom or dad. We would play that game together for hours and have a lot of fun. So when I saw this I added it to my wishlist and recently decided on buying it.

I wanted to relive the experience from my childhood with my girlfriend, but when I get to the title screen of Battle City, there doesn't seem to be a way to pick the ''2 players'' option. I can only press start and play alone. I have 2 PlayStation Dualshock 4 and 2 Xbox controllers and none work on the title screen except for pressing start and then playing alone.

Anyone knows of a way to fix this?

Hi, for example, I used button "back/select" on BOX-like controller. So you can chosse 1/2 p or Construction.
