I only keep an eye out if i have the gnawed bone relic
What you really want is to maxout gold gains to afford maxxing out weapon damage (strength) castle upgrades and get above 100 intelligence and equip both lifesteal and soulsteal runes.
Im currently on NG+8 and i get 255hp for every kill, most of the time this completely nullifies any damage taken to kill anything and trivialises combat for the majority of the game.
In fact it helps inspire more reckless combat and in turn i often just rush kill everything and because of this i'd say i actually get hit less then when i played slow and cautiously.
You didn't answer my question, and your strategy only works if you grind excessively. Lifesteal gives 4-5HP without extreme grinding.
Although he technically didn't answer the question, he still provided a good thing to strive for when playing the game. (I've played for maybe 30 hours, and I'm soon on NG+4)
I'm getting atleast 50+ hp per monster, thanks to lifesteal runes and stacking a nice amount of strength with the drowned set. (And then a nice amount of intellect and intellect scaling in the castle to make food useful still)
Also further you go into NG+ cycles, less valuable food seems to become overall. Mana potion heal is way bigger than a chicken wing.
I'm more convinced that when you pick Meat Is Murder trait you double or triple the # of food drops. Best trait for how easy it is to deal with and the huge gold% it adds, but gdi I swear every single random lantern I break hurls a chickenwing at me.
Lifesteal runs off strength, so maxxing out weapon damage also increases the health gained.
Soulsteal runs off intelligence, so maxxing out intelligence also increases health gained.
Your probably on the first playthrough so you'll have to die alot before you can get the good results, food on the other hand is purely rng, although you can get the relic that has a 8% chance for enemies to drop food on death per stack so that should be something to aim for that early.
Otherwise get the sanguine set, that also heals you.
Don't take my advice, im only on NG+9 and lv910.....
Thanks for the heads up, I won't take your advice. NG+10 meta is totally different from normal game, you are probably way out of touch.
Sometimes they drop every room or two. Sometimes it's not for, like, twenty. The effect gets even stronger if I find a gnawed bone, which is about as annoying as it sounds.
Otherwise it's probably the same flat rate and just boils down to RNG. Another thing is that harder area probably just straight up has less breakable objects overall, so even with the same rate you would get lesser chance to get food.
