This boss is one of my favorite, especialy in later NG+.
But i've always been a platformer player ( celeste, super meat boy, etc etc... ) so i can understand that other can have a much harder time in it.
That said it becomes significantly more enjoyable and forgiving with one extra jump rune and optionally an extra dash too, so I can understand the pain if you don't have those runes yet. The difficulty and enjoyment of it seems to vary massively between players who found a jump rune and those who didn't.
Use a jump rune if you have it, if not keep opening fairy chests to the best of your ability until you find it. Extra jumps are immensely helpful for the boss as well.
Extra vault/dash runes or classes like ranger and astromancer will help you go through that place if you're still having problems.
Also, its music absolutely slaps.
Flip on House Rules, especially flight, and put it behind you as soon as possible.
It alone nearly didn't make me want to even start NG+1.
