How to Create Custom Language Files for Rogue Legacy 2
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to create custom language files for Rogue Legacy 2.
*Please note that this feature only supports Cyrillic or Latin language sets.

We are providing two ways to create your own language files. The first one is to use our official language document. This contains all strings in a neatly organized spreadsheet, along with all our notes on the strings. You can view it here:

Public Google Doc Link[docs.google.com].
*This document is BIG, so it may take a couple seconds to load.

Downloading or copying the spreadsheet to your own Google Drive will allow you to edit it. Once you're happy with your changes, navigate to the "Custom_Language_Exporter" tab and export the file as a tsv (tab-delineated) document.

The second option is to download the game's raw language files here:

Language Files Zipped[cellardoorgames.com].

These files contain all the raws strings (for male and female) and their corresponding LocIDs for the game in the various languages the game supports. You can edit any of these files directly using your favourite text editor (like Notepad) if you don't want to use the official spreadsheet, which may be slow on some computers.

Regardless of which option you choose, the language files must retain their .tsv extension, and must be exported as UTF-8.

Once you've created your new tsv language file, the rest is easy. Here are the remaining steps:

  • Rename the tsv file to whatever you want.

  • Move the file to the following directory:
    AppData\LocalLow\Cellar Door Games\Rogue Legacy 2\CustomData\<PLATFORM>\Translations
*If the AppData\LocalLow folder is hidden, you can access it by typing in %appdata% in the Windows search bar, and it will lead you to AppData\Roaming. From there you can go back a folder to find \LocalLow.

  • Launch the game and enter the Game Settings. Your language file will now appear as an option when changing the language.

That's it. Happy Translating!

Hello!
Any chance that full and quality fan localizations will be added officially to other platforms?
Ukrainian is made at a professional level and it would be very cool if more players could use it.
