Restarting the same thread and threads affecting erebus scars?

So I just noticed it looks like when you beat the game you can actually stay on the same thread, or even go back to previous threads? Does this still reset the bosses, or do they stay dead? Just trying to decide if I want to stay on the same thread and level up a little more before moving on.

Also, does going to a higher thread affect the difficulty of the erebus scar challenges? Because if that's the case I might like to work on them before going to a higher thread.

Starting a new thread will reset everything from the previous run, even if it was the same thread number. Bosses, warps unlocked, miniboss progress. Bosses only give soul orbs once per thread though, so you can't farm them that way.

Thread number and burdens do not affect scars.

Regarding the Scars of Erebus, their whole point is that you fight them at a fixed level/stat no matter who you are and where you came from. The only thing that can make you stronger (since you cannot equip anything either) is the empathies and the relics, and both lower your score.

Also, House Rules apparently, but that's a bit different.
