I just threw away 400,000 gold. AMA
I wasn't paying attention after completing NG+2 and wanted to get through to the next NG+ cycle so I could buy some upgrades on my castle and equipment that I've been waiting on and I completely forgot that the moment you start a NG+ cycle, it gives all your gold to Charon and stuffs you right back into a new game.

So now my living safe has 4,000 gold.

All that gold you gave to Charon in all likelihood resulted in more stat upgrades from his Tribute Levels than if you had spent that gold on the Manor. Check his Tribute Levels the next time you're at the Docks to see.

Yeah, I did the same thing with about 300k gold, but at least I got a whole bunch of levels on Charon's Tribute for my negligence.

It's ok I got that mistake at one point also.
I also don't even know where to check Charon tribute level...

Talk to the living safe, he tells you what tribute level you currently are and how much gold you need to "donate" for the next level.

Once you are in higher NGs and your castle level is high enough, you'll regularly throw away more.

Id say that the early Charon Levels are more important than singular upgrades. Check how much you need to raise it. If it's as expensive as a single upgrade, give your money to Charon. +1 to all stats per level is tasty.

Yeah, but I kinda wanted that gold to buy runes, equipment, and more stat upgrades first...

Also, I had no idea about the Charon Tribute Level. Thanks for that tip and I'll check it out next time I'm on.
