That being said I only really play the melees. I did end up stuck for first time using Handheld Ballista with Pacifist run, and it was surprisingly solid until Irad felt impossible due to how slow the weapon was.
Barbarian plus the flower that increases your immunity window upon being hit is what allowed me to complete that first run. The final boss was tough.
After you git gud, you can play with any combo of weapons and talents. Excellent balance from the designers, once you understand the full game- anything is possible.
also, they slap in boss fights and can be ridiculously strong with STR build.
