Astromancer black hole tick
♥♥♥♥ sucks vs bosses, is there some kind of innate resistance to it? Lamech just made a mockery of this cool looking skill for me.

its constant little tics dmg , againts moving targets (like bosses) its hard to use
But you can spam it to up a little bit the dps , there a wave on the first tic that does more dmg and has a little bit more range
That is why you use your spell while the black hole is up for more dps

For astromance you kinda want the poison relic if you want more damage from the weapon.
Otherwise, for bosses you're gonna want to use spells.
And if you've got a bad spell.. then he's kinda bad.

Astro+Flame Barrier+Burn or Poison can cheese anything in the game.

Black hole gets better the more you have to move in a fight. One black hole deals about 2 barbarian axe hits worth of damage for its whole duration. If you can just stand at the boss and keep attacking him you will deal more damage with most other classes, if you need to move a lot the black hole is great as you just need to find the time to get it up and then can do what you want.

One black hole also can generate 75-125 mana, which is a lot. If you have a good offensive spell most of your damage will come from the spell and black hole's main purpose will be the mana gain, not dealing damage on its own.

It's really varied depends on the boss, the bigger and less mobile the boss is the better it is against it.

Irad the probably the prime example of this. You can drop the whole thing on the center and move around to dodge while melting it at the same time, also can be quite good against air enemies for this reason.

Traitor on the other hand is really bad for it cause he is small and jumps around a lot.
And yeah, Astro at the end of the day is a mage class which relies more on spell to bossing. My choice to go for is lightning storm but there are some other good options as well.

Astromancer is one of the two classes (along with Barbarian) that can really really benefit from the Heavy Stone Bargain. The attack lasts longer than two seconds, so you basically just double your damage with no drawback at a minimal resolve cost.

Astromancer is primarily a spellcaster anyway, and the black hole mainly exists to refill your MP. Its only a decent offensive option if you have relics that improve it.

Great against that eye boss lol. But yeah, gotta get it right inside them for all skill crit ticks. Good with a lot of like super crit runes/crit damage runes, I imagine. I don't have a lot of them so idk lol. Oh but there's relics that could increase the damage a lot I'm sure. Idk if that makes it really good or not.

The problem with spellcaster classes in general is that most of the game's spells are pretty bad so most characters in these classes have a pretty useless spell.

I don't think I've seen a mage yet with even *one* good spell. Meanwhile my combat classes seem to always get something great like Prismatic Spectrum or White Star.

This problem can be amended by the use of some soul shop options.
You can lock in class/spell for the right-most heir.
so you can choose to always have an astromancer with fireball if you want.
