missing armor

So I've just started NG+3, and things are going well. I'm doing the Stygian Study first and have is mostly cleared out. Then I notice that I only have 24 armor. I don't know exactly what my default armor amount is, but it's certainly a lot higher than that (I've recovered it back up to 57 through potions, and I'm pretty sure it will cap out a bit above 100).

So, what could have reduced it so much? I only know of two things that reduce armor - the Shredder ability, and the Burden that makes all enemy hits reduce armor. I do not have that Burden activated, nor do I have the Burden that can give random enemies abilities (I checked). So it must have been a Shredder commander and I just didn't notice, but for it to be reduced that much, I must have taken several hits. I would remember getting bodied by a commander that badly. It also would have just killed me outright. So that's not it, or at least not all of it.

Is there anything else that reduces armor?

There is a bug with Coeus' Shell (and possibly other sources of blocking damage such as Lotus Root but I'm not sure myself) where if it blocks an attack from an enemy with Shredder that it shreds all your armor, although the damage is blocked as expected.

I have experienced it myself a couple of times, and have also reported it, so I hope a fix is in the works at some point, but until then be careful when you are using those types of relics.

Ah, that would explain what happened to my NG+5 run earlier - I had a fantastic character going but fell to Enoch because I could only get back up to 45 armor (from a base of 170) during the round of bosses at the end.
