Rogue Legacy 2 is also an excellent game. You run the same procedural dungeon over and over again, so satisfaction comes from both getting better and incrementally increasing your stats slowly.
Both play great mechanically and are challenging. Play both, but I'd say go Hollow Knight first.
They are different genres however, Rogue Legacy is about repeating the same randomized world getting a bit stronger and more knowledgeable each run. Hollow Knight is a metroidvania and so you get stronger as you explore the world, and the powers you receive often allow you to explore new sections of areas you've already been to.
Hollow Knight uses a charm system to customize how you play. You're still the same core character with the same main upgrades, but you can lean towards certain aspects as you find the charms to do so.
It has faster, more direct, and varied progression and variance.
Repeating for the final time, there are no classes in Hollow Knight, but through the charm system you can compliment how you want to play (you can go for a "mage" build if you really want to). So, as Canman said, I really recommend both, but Hollow Knight should be first.
I wouldn't say that if I were you, "Fast" depends on the persons skill level, I've seen people on here with 20 hours played and they've only beaten the first boss.
I cleared the entire game on my first time in less then 15 hours. (I've only played rogue legacy 1 before this, and even then not that much.)
For me it was super quick and I got to NG+ stuff within my first 2 days playing, someone else might be stuck in the first loop for 100 hours.
... but also hollow knight is a quiet revolution and you should absolutely play it ASAP.
If I were you, I would also check out Dead Cells, if you want something more in the vein of Rogue Legacy.
if you do check out dead cells spring for the complete edition, instead of updating the game for free they released a bunch of 5 dollar dlc packs that add areas and bosses that branch out and diversify your runs, without the dlc i feel the game is still good but it really does add alot and you can get it bundled with the base game cheaper than buying them later.
I finished the 100% for RL2, for instance, while in Hollow Knight I did the speedrun achievements and a few others and then moved on.
But hands down, Hollow Knight has better boss fights which are not just purely mindless bullet hell like RL2.
