For example, i have 6-10 armour nodes on my castle tree, and have 30-35 armour in life leech set (red set), swapping to Ammonite give up to 90 armour. 55 of them are useless and not calculating overall because capped on 35 (maybee 38-40 of node\rune).
I don't know how and WHY it was intended, but it looks like this set is trash.
First of all, remember that armor is flat reduction, but the block cap is %... so as you get hit by attacks with more then 100 damage, you'll need more then 35 armor to hit the block cap.
Second, you can use Folded rune to increase the block cap for your armor by 4% per rune level... so a tier 3 rune can get you to 47% block cap. nearly half the damage.
Third, in NG+, you could end up with Burden of Metal, where all enemies will reduce your armor value with each hit, so having more armor gives you some leeway before you start dropping below the block cap. (even in normal game, some commanders could end up with shredder mod, reducing your armor by 10%)
