Is there a good guideline for how much armor to aim for per thread level?
The third armor upgrade is so expensive that I've been neglecting it, but it's enough ranks behind at this point that I'm starting to wonder if I need to focus on that for a few runs. (I'm about to start thread +9, and I'm sure I'm missing at least 50-60 ranks at this point). Is there a good guideline for how much armor to aim for per thread level?

Play normally but keep an eye on the damage you're receiving. The grey numbers in parenthesis is the amount of damage blocked by your armor.

If you consistently see that this number is equal to your armor, especially in the earlier areas, then you're hitting the max block cap and you could increase it. If you're never hitting the cap, or only late (Sun Tower or Pishon) you're probably fine.

That's the easiest way to gauge whether you should increase your armor or not.
