When hitting an enemy with any number of combos on them, you get a damage increase. I think it's 3% per combo, capping at 20 stacks (+60% dmg).
The KO punch talent reacts differently: it consumes all the combos on the target and increase damage by I think 35% per combo.
That actually sounds amazing, since the gunslinger can build combo waaaaay faster than the boxer
i'll have to try that one day
For other classes, it will only perform well on bosses, and that assumes you are very good at making sure it doesn't fall off so you can consistently keep the stacks fairly high. If you find yourself frequently breaking contact with the boss to avoid attacks and having combo fall off before the 7-10 combo mark, it still isn't doing all that much for you.
It also has the flaw of only affecting physical damage, I believe. So no interaction with burn/spore burst or spells.
It's awesome with the Barbarian's axe... but only against bosses.
With the spinning air attack you can accrue a lot of combos quickly (since bosses tend to be easy to hit) and then land and use the regular attack with the increased damage. But on regular mobs, probably not useful as they're going to die too fast anyway.
Might be good with the Hammer too, but again, probably only against bosses as most enemies are not going to survive past the first few hits (where you'd average 3~5% dmg increase only)
Who wouldn't use the boxer's talent, and why ? That ♥♥♥♥'s bonkers.
Its only downside is that it destroys the environment so you can't keep props as potential source of food for later.
Well you can also easily make it through with the boxer by just spamming shoryuken
