Soul collecting experience
Okay, so my biggest source of souls so far has just been from clearing worlds: Today I switched to Thread 3 and cleared it with a Lancer in one run, earning another 500 souls. I'm nowhere near gitting gud, but I suck less at this game than I used to.

I've also done a bit of the scars: Silver in double-mech, completing the simple one. Not much, but a bit.

I've raised caps by 1 on the available castle stats, levels, and Charon, plus equipment to +3 and runes to 4 (i.e. 3 purchases of each). Currently got 500 spare souls, from beating Thread 3 for the first time.

Assuming I can get enough souls from scar challenges with a Knight, I'm aiming for +4 equipment unlock. Full equipment unlock means that once I have +4 equipment, I can get 100 unity in one field and 50 in another, 50 unity in 3 fields, or 50 unity in one field and 25 in four others. That's a lot of flexibility. Fortunately, with Thread 3 on or nearly on farm status (I killed all five bosses and two sub-bosses in one run), I can get a lot of metal by resetting Thread 3.

Once I have equipment soul-bought, I'm probably going to try to raise castle & levels mostly evenly, possibly with burden reduced a couple of times to make farming easier. Given how soul prices increase, keeping it all balanced seems best. Once I see how useful Charon's increase is (I'm not even close to 25 yet), I'll decide if it's worth getting more.

Character levels _are_ worth it, I feel. An extra level in each class is 22 runic weight, and in addition you're getting 11 bonuses that don't cost money like castle/Charon do. Plus, the percentage ones multiply with the castle, rather than adding. There's a mathematically correct balance, although I don't feel like trying to puzzle it out.

I wouldn't buy the Charon charity upgrade, not until you maxed other things. It's not as important as buying castle upgrades and gear unlock (equipment +4 is a must take asap, runes up to +4 too, almost a no-brainer).

Mastery, I'd go easy, as it seems that, again, castle upgrades might be more worth it.
It all comes down to souls spent vs stat points & bonus received. I bought 5 levels of it, holding on buying more until I see where I'm at.

Yeah, got the +4 equipment, now it's time to focus on castle and levels.

Keep in mind that since each level costs more, it doesn't take long before it's worth it to buy the cheaper stuff than to try to get one more expensive upgrade.

Well, I maxed Blacksmith, got +4 upgrades on Runes, got the Preferred Class Treatment, 2 points in Contagious Charm, 5 points in all three Manor Upgrades and Class Levels.

I really want to max out the Manor upgrades, but I can't scrounge up the remaining 6,750 souls for it! D: I already cleared all scars on Gold, and I am on NG+9. I'm in for a world of hurt

For now. They'll add more scars, more bosses (as soon as biome 6 boss is added, if you kill it on NG+9, you'll instantly get all souls from previous NG), and unlock the NG eventually.
They may add more relationship events too.

I agree that stat manor upgrades are more important, but I would not neglect mastery and charons charity completely. Keep in mind that they cost more souls the more souls you already spent on the same kind of upgrade. So prioritizing other things is good, but at least put a few points into charity before other things are maxed.

Given that almost all my gold is going into upgrades, buying Charon now would net me exactly 0 stat points.

And each upgrade only increase the cap by 1 if I'm not wrong. That's "only" 5 stat points. Even the cheapest level have a hard time competing with the more expensive castle upgrades that increase the cap on several skills by several levels.

I'm not buying the sub-classes or the class lock, nor the burden reduction so I'll eventually buy it, but not until I find the other skills too expensive.

If I remember correctly charity soul price raises more slowly, but I agree that the manor upgrades are much better, you need to increase their price a lot to justify skilling into charity, and then only a few points. And yeah, if you aren't at the limit already it won't do much for you anyways.

Since in the future there will be tier 3 upgrades for int and str, you will get even more stats from the manor, charity should get a buff later on.

With mastery it is closer. still manor upgrades are much better, but I think you reach a point where it is worth it to skill into it earlier, especially when there are more classes in the future.

Edit: I thought charity is half the price. But apperantly the initial price is the same, it just goes up more slowly. Then it indeed might even not be worth it to purchase the first 1 before maxing the manor.

Yeah, the Charon one is REALLY not worth it. Each increase would need to boost the max by, like, 10, before it would be worthwhile. That sad "+1 if you throw away your money" was not worth the souls spent.

Didn’t realize game was currently capped at ng+10… wasted so many souls (about 2k) on the alt classes, Charon, and burden reduction. Now my game is hosed until the next content release. At least I will still have more advancement to do when it does drop.

For what it's worth, the Charon donation is getting some kind of boost scheduled for next patch I think. Might be just some rune weight, might be something else.
