Why? Who the hell knows, but yes, how it's handled is indeed garbage.
so far i had to download the entire game again every time i lost connection
And the download is so annoyingly slow -.-´
Not just that, you download the game TWICE!
Steam downloads the full game, all 10GB. And even has delta patches that only update the 100 or so MB of changed data.
Then when the game launches, it IGNORES ALL OF THIS and RE-DOWNLOADS THE ENTIRE GAME all over again for some reason. If you right-click the game's properties Steam will claim it's taking 10GB... but if you actually navigate to the folder it's installed to, it takes up over 18GB due to basically downloading itself twice.
And unlike Steam where every time there is an update it only downloads the updated data, every time there is an update the game will delete ALL of the copy of itself that it downloaded... and re-download ALL OF IT!
I have literally never seen an update system this badly designed in my life, even online games with persistant updates I played over 20 years ago in the dialup days were better designed than this to handle updates. Not even the Android version of the game does this, that one updates properly. But the PC version is a mess.
I just checked the installation folder for Another Eden, and it was 18 GB, which is twice the size of what it should be. So, it doesn't just download the game twice, but it also stores two copies of the game.
I've just uninstalled the game. I can't put up with downloading 20 GB of data each week due to the game downloading twice each time there's a new small update.
That's what I meant, yeah.
First download appears pretty small but whenever you play you need to download a ♥♥♥♥ load.
