This is really easy. All you have to do is go to your save game folder: C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Eternity Games\GladiatorManager . Inside you'll find the saves as "dynamic_new" (first save) and then "dynamic2 - 4" (next three) and then dynamic5 and 6 for the autosaves.
You then need to get a SQL lite editor - I use SQLiteStudio - and open the save in that. Then edit to your heart's content!
but I don't see my renamed character there.
I'm almost certain I'm misunderstanding something.
Is it actually possible to edit my save (character)? Thank you.
EDIT--I found my renamed character in dynamic4. I've read all the posts that I can find about modding/editing (here in discussions) so I'll try that and write down what I did so total noobs like myself will be able to do it. Thank you for your patience.
I was able to edit stats in PGladiators and PGladiatorsTemp for my character but when I exported the file back to where I found it, it was only 1 kb in size. I'll continue to examine where I made an error tomorrow.
EDIT Question: "Exported text encoding" should be "system" ?
EDIT-- Okay, I see that the files in the game folder are sqlite files while the editor tries to put in sql files. How do I resolve that? Thanks.
EDIT--It seems I need to "commit" my changes. Will try to figure out how to do that.
Hi Shammy - well done on your progress so far!
You're right that there's no need to be moving or 'exporting' the file. All you need to do is access it in location through SQLiteStudio and edit directly from there (though making a back-up copy of the save is obviously always smart in case you accidentally break something).
To "Commit" your changes you need to click on the green "tick" in the top left above immediately above the data in the "data tab / grid view" mode. It is greyed out until you make changes, and once you make changes it turns green and can be pressed.
Let me know if you have any more trouble.
The 'commit' will be confirmed in the "status" window at the bottom.
What to mod would depend on the kind of game of course.
Here, i’d see new portraits, traits, weapons, etc, as a "more content" type of modding.
Also, i’d like to see new thematics, like not gladiators but mutated monsters or space aliens or moderne street fightts etc.
I’d quite love a "Gladiator Manager Game" but with mutated monsters, sort of fantasm since i’m a kid playing custom lead-figures tabletop games...
If anyone has any specific requests let me know.
The two things you're probably missing in the process are:
1) Making sure to edit the values in both the PGladiators AND the PGladiatorsTemp dBs.
2) Pressing 'commit' once you've made the changes.
That should see you to having your super smart Rogue? in no time at all!
Any more issues let me know.
Did you split out these database files for names, etc.? I'm not seeing anything in my directories. Biggest thing I want to do is just expand it. I am playing Roman and there are too many duplicate and similar names.
I didn't, no. At the time there was no uptake here compared with lots of requests elsewhere.
Actually the simplest way to do this is for you to simply provide me with the extra names in a text file. Provided they are appropriate I'll be very happy to simply throw them in to the main code and upload them in a patch, then they will start showing up even in existing saves. If you are keen then feel free to add me on steam and send me a message.
Hi Dazzy.
It isn't possible to change the league and cup structures. The scheduling is too complex for it to be moddable that easily.
I would strongly suggest not messing with those variables you mention above, that is likely to bug the game.
The modding is primarily to change existing values (like FM Editor) and aesthetics like team and fighter names.
I'm sorry it's not possible to implement what you want there! :)
