You can edit your save pretty easily anytime you like, to create custom scenarios and really anything you like out of the data (obviously at your own risk of breaking the save - so make a copy of it first!).

This is really easy. All you have to do is go to your save game folder: C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Eternity Games\GladiatorManager . Inside you'll find the saves as "dynamic_new" (first save) and then "dynamic2 - 4" (next three) and then dynamic5 and 6 for the autosaves.

You then need to get a SQL lite editor - I use SQLiteStudio - and open the save in that. Then edit to your heart's content!

What about the fighter classes are they moddable like can you add more classes?
Mythrix  [developer] Jan 29, 2021 @ 7:59am
Hi Fred. That's not possible at the moment, short of editing the save game to create custom classes using the perks presently available to the existing classes. So you could create hybrids in your save. All of the existing and potential perks are available in the save file so you could definitely create your own class in that sense. However, the other special features of classes (like armour and weapon types and effects, and special moves) are fixed as they are. I'm not too clear on how I could easily provide for easy modding of classes but it's definitely something I'll consider if there is demand. I imagine I could create some editable text files to allow for hybrid classes but it would be quite a massive task to integrate that.

What you could do is ask what type of format do people prefer to allow for editing the files In to make It easier on you and modders like JSON or XML format.

I downloaded the SQLiteStudio but seem to have trouble finding my save. I know where the saves are, I see the " "dynamic_new" (first save) and then "dynamic2 - 4" (next three) and then dynamic5 and 6 for the autosaves"
but I don't see my renamed character there.
I'm almost certain I'm misunderstanding something.
Is it actually possible to edit my save (character)? Thank you.

EDIT--I found my renamed character in dynamic4. I've read all the posts that I can find about modding/editing (here in discussions) so I'll try that and write down what I did so total noobs like myself will be able to do it. Thank you for your patience.

I was able to edit stats in PGladiators and PGladiatorsTemp for my character but when I exported the file back to where I found it, it was only 1 kb in size. I'll continue to examine where I made an error tomorrow.

EDIT Question: "Exported text encoding" should be "system" ?

EDIT-- Okay, I see that the files in the game folder are sqlite files while the editor tries to put in sql files. How do I resolve that? Thanks.

EDIT--It seems I need to "commit" my changes. Will try to figure out how to do that.

Hi Shammy - well done on your progress so far!

You're right that there's no need to be moving or 'exporting' the file. All you need to do is access it in location through SQLiteStudio and edit directly from there (though making a back-up copy of the save is obviously always smart in case you accidentally break something).

To "Commit" your changes you need to click on the green "tick" in the top left above immediately above the data in the "data tab / grid view" mode. It is greyed out until you make changes, and once you make changes it turns green and can be pressed.

Let me know if you have any more trouble.

The 'commit' will be confirmed in the "status" window at the bottom.

Ah, okay. I misunderstood then. I see how the files are committed.
I realize, through your answer, that I need not export anything as the changes are made in the games files once I hit "commit". I tested and the changes appear in the game.
Thank you and thank you to the other person for both your help.
That's exactly what I was looking for.

Modding is always a cool thing to have in any game, IMO.
What to mod would depend on the kind of game of course.

Here, i’d see new portraits, traits, weapons, etc, as a "more content" type of modding.

Also, i’d like to see new thematics, like not gladiators but mutated monsters or space aliens or moderne street fightts etc.

I’d quite love a "Gladiator Manager Game" but with mutated monsters, sort of fantasm since i’m a kid playing custom lead-figures tabletop games...

I may now be in a position to offer wider modding options based on txt file editing, to change various aspects of your game on a basic level. In particular I might be able to offer editing of the name and team name databases (going a little way to Tchey's idea above) and it may also be possible to change some core gameplay things such as generation parameters and perhaps even battle parameters like damage levels, armour levels, energy drain etc.

If anyone has any specific requests let me know.

I've been trying to roleplay a fighter that is highly cunning and intelligent, i edit his stats in the save file but the changes go back to default after one fight. Is there a way to make the stat change permanent?

Hi Rokn and thanks for picking up the game- I hope you're enjoying it.

The two things you're probably missing in the process are:

1) Making sure to edit the values in both the PGladiators AND the PGladiatorsTemp dBs.
2) Pressing 'commit' once you've made the changes.

That should see you to having your super smart Rogue? in no time at all!

Any more issues let me know.

Thx for the reply, I love text simulations. I definitely did not do this.

Did you split out these database files for names, etc.? I'm not seeing anything in my directories. Biggest thing I want to do is just expand it. I am playing Roman and there are too many duplicate and similar names.

I didn't, no. At the time there was no uptake here compared with lots of requests elsewhere.

Actually the simplest way to do this is for you to simply provide me with the extra names in a text file. Provided they are appropriate I'll be very happy to simply throw them in to the main code and upload them in a patch, then they will start showing up even in existing saves. If you are keen then feel free to add me on steam and send me a message.

I'm wanting to change from the garbage SFL style 5 x 10 team divisions to 4 x 16 team divisions (or 3 x 16 if over 50 teams in game is an issue) with the cup tweaked to work around that layout. Also wanting to ditch the playoffs for a straightforward 1up/1down or 2up/2down format.

Best I've found so far are the 'League', 'StillInCup' and 'CupFixture' columns under 'ETeams'. Are these some of want I need to mess around with? What else do I need to tweak to get the above?

I haven't edited databases for some years now and am probably overlooking something obvious. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Hi Dazzy.

It isn't possible to change the league and cup structures. The scheduling is too complex for it to be moddable that easily.

I would strongly suggest not messing with those variables you mention above, that is likely to bug the game.

The modding is primarily to change existing values (like FM Editor) and aesthetics like team and fighter names.

I'm sorry it's not possible to implement what you want there! :)
