This company had one heck of a roller coaster ride.
Most of their existence was spent trying to shield foreign players from their games, blocking them at every turn. This resulted in bootleg releases and mass-pirating of their software (proving that the demand for the games really was there).
Due to the lack of foreign support fans like myself would huddle around hubs like the long-disbanded HongFire website for patches, translations, and mods for these games. From Artificial Girl/Academy to their iconic SexyBeach series, each entry only deepened the desire for what the company had to offer.
I think, for me, my main attraction to the games wasn't necessarily the H game itself (which usually entertained me briefly, rather it was the custom engines (and eventually Studio) that allowed me to dive in and test the flexibility of the character models/skins/etc even as far back as SexyBeach 2 and 3, Artificial Girl, and Artificial Academy.
I started to see their real potential with the release of SexyBeachPR. Though it was extremely buggy, required more graphics than my laptop at the time had to spare, and in many ways needed a color swap in some areas of the map; the game was showing signs of a real game in-progress... in complete, but very potential. (This was also the first time we got to see "Studio" as it would be seen in their games moving forward.)
However, out of all their games, A.I. Shoujo is the one entry where I actually continue to play the main game as much as I do Studio. I was kind of hoping that much like a lot of their other entries, Illusion would eventually get around to making an A.I. Shoujo 2. If they had I probably would have right there at the pre-register counter anticipating it's release (realizing that the modding community wouldn't create the uncensor patch for some time)
I guess that won't be happening now, and that's quite unfortunate.
Sometimes its time to start with something like 90 % FINAL SALE DISCOUNT to make money. better 6 Euros or 4-5 than 0 XD
Non one buy this overpriced thing for over 60 Euro (not even Achievements, 5 Cards). Its more like 5-10-15 Euros worth.
and thank you.........
2001? they started in 90s
We need Des Blood 2 on GOG, lol
It's true that their first game (Des Blood) was released in 1997, but they officially didn't get founded until April 21, 2001, it's the reason why I used the 2001 date instead.
