they learn themself by doing any activities including talking with them, you can make it faster giving a cologne, book/magazine, or gems. you can also give them suggestion.

Adding on to this, you can craft certain items that will help them learn. For example, you can craft a driftwood chair with books on it as a start. Being a low tier furniture piece, it wont give the girl as much experience as the other chairs with books on it.

Another thing to add. There are some items you can also craft items that REDUCE stats. Useful for getting rid of behaviors you want them to do less of. Its an interesting mechanic.

Also just talking to the girl will slowly raise the stats (depending on how she respond to you). I was doing a little testing because I wanted to see the effect of talking. For example asking "What do you think of me" raises the humanity 3 points. So it slow but will affect it.

i accidentally found that giving them gifts, esp rare ones, eg gems and such, does crazy things to their EXP.

Each gem has a specific effect on a particular Stat and raises that Stat by 100!

It made me sad because it just made the game that much more shallow: ie. girls gain Exp when they get expensive presents...
