just open the game options, open the plugin options, locate the menu for extragirls and set a higher number, then on a terminal, just select change girl (or something to that effect) and change in a girl in one of the new blank slots.

Extra girls can only be added in free mode (more than 4 that is). Free mode is unlocked after you unlock all areas in your first playthrough. You have to make a new game in free mode.

No, starting a new game shouldn't be needed, I use it in my initial playthrough... didn't test it till I had unlocked all 4 girls though, so the first part might be right.

The Steam Version of AI Girl may be locked and not allow extra girls beyond the 4.

The "JP Version" is based upon a newer game version 1.07 where the Steam Version of AI Girl is Illusion version 1.0 Many improvements were made to the original game.

Please remember, the Japanese version "JP Version" was never intended to be "graphically correct" regarding private parts as that is illegal in Japan. The removal of mosaics and correct looking genitalia was up to the modders to employ which is very prevalent on "other" sites that support this game. Modding support is part of the original game but not included with the Steam Version. Modding for the Japanese version is all over the web if you look for it. Small mods for the Steam Version are out there but not nearly in the same numbers.

The add girls mod does work. I have used it in normal game play but only in the "JP Version" of the game, not the Steam Version.

"Free Mode" on the other hand does indeed present itself when all areas of the map have been unlocked which in simple terms, if you unlocked the "Housing" island and 4th Girl Pod (Secret Lab), you pretty much finished the game except for attending to the needs of your girls.
