No, I'm not buying this after my awful experience with the 2020 version. I've spent more time trying to fix all the issues than flying. Rather than releasing a whole new sim, you should have fixed and updated the existing sim! Oh that's right, you want money. Screw you!

It's actually pretty hilarious that you're expecting me to trust you on this. You're NOT taking my money again.

Ah yes, those scenery and planes should have been DLC... oh wait DLC didn't exist back then... Not to mention no competition and not the same amount of games that are available these days. So again, things back then were different but I'm sure that's "a bunk" to you. Thanks for the wikipedia history lesson but I gamed from the end of the 70's. I don't need it, I lived it.

In my opinion FS24 is an upgrade that should have been sold as an expansion as the engine can just be upgraded. It also didn't follow a version that has been around longer then most gamers are old these days.

You all seem to take people with other opinions about Microsoft and this game very personal. Don't worry we won't stand in your way of throwing your money at them but most of us won't until you have beta tested this for us.
Do You honestly know how hard it is to upgrade and change Engine to already existing released game?
You apparently don't.
No one is taking anything personal.

You seem not to understand how big of an upgrade is a new AI System of Creating completely 3D ground, not just trees and buildings. It would take a long time to implement into already released game, most likely break something.
And then You would be here crying and sobbing that Microsoft broke game and scammed You.

Yes, I actually do know as a developer myself. First an engine is not just one file of code but consists of many many separate systems, that usually are upgraded over time in any modern game engine. This is very normal.

The AI isn't part of the engine, it's actually part of the game, and again just one system that can be upgraded without changing other parts.

The world in FS is actually handled by their AI partner and making it "more" 3D isn't actually as hard as you think. Is it a lot of work? Yes, it is. But it's all based on height data they buy and the AI just reads and implements the new height data into the gameworld you and I see. That is why their company and all partners are that big so they can handle this.

You're so defensive over a software product you probably have nothing to do with then use it like all of us. You have clearly another opinion but really feel the need to "prove" another persons opinion is wrong.

I'm just stating my opinion is again, this should have been an expansion not a separate game. Whatever you try and prove doesn't affect my opinion in any way.

I have said enough about this in this very outdated thread that has just been kept alive by you trying to defend it against everyone.

So You are a Dev now?
Okay but then what You said is not entirely true.
While yes Game Engine and Code itself consists of many seperate parts, but every person that did anything in IT knows that sometimes with programming changing something in code can break something else, even if it seems as a unrelated parts.
Major Engine changes or updates are risky and takes time.

Also BlackShark ai might be responsible for Ai itself (which is not entirely true, Asobo still works on it as well) but it's still Asobo who are tasked with implementing it.

Nothing. They've already said FS2020 will get a Sim Update every year or so. Maybe you should actually read the development updates.
or you should actual go back and read where they said they wouldnt make a new game, they keep 2020 for 8 years or so, then they quit in 3 years

yeah its nice just buying MSF 2020 and then hearing about getting a new game 6 months after. They gotta make their money.. lovely.
Nice that people have spoken, ticks in these forums are just a few but noisy and annoying, well, here we have just 2 ticks, that's a good poll. People are just Fed up, Go ask money somewhere else, i was undecided but now after thinking, we all know will be just another clone with a few improvements, no one with 2 inches of forehead dont fall with these "pre-hype" release, what we see in the trailer never is what we really experience when flying in the daily basis, ands i have a monster of a computer, with a 4090 but i always need to dial down the sliders to have a stable good framerate i fly a lot o fast fighter jets so its important , they edit the trailers like in DCS, 1 second videos in a frenetic succession, just like when you jiggle the keys in front of a baby, yeah not buying it in the release date, i will wait a good amount of time to watch some serious reviews and then buy it when on a 50% sale thats it, im not in a rush anyways we all know that we sometimes can wait 4 or 5 months like grown ups , money is getting to expensive, let the content creators and some rich kids buy it first.
There is no scientific evidence that correlates forehead size with intelligence. That you would believe in pseudoscience isn't surprising though. You've have a tenuous grasp on every other piece of information you've tried to wield.

The physical appearance of Your skull has nothing to do with intelligence.
All Humans today are ♥♥♥♥ Sapiens Sapiens, we are the same species.
The difference between individuals in Modern Humans is not as important as difference between different Species.

I know it might be hard for you, but if you power though this article, you could just prove it for yourself.

I will definitely follow your advice and read the article about the human skull and the relationship it has with the intelligence of each individual-Phrenology
Edited: I really liked it and you're really absolutely right, your wisdom in teaching me through Wikipedia was amazing i already feel something, reminds me of the South Park sarcastaball episode tho, I think you need to get more sun and vitamin D and forget about Phrenology, im getting worried about your mental health

Holy smokes. This went bonkers. Anyone with some experience working in upper management knows that the big brains and monkeys at the top, for whatever their reasons, made this decision. They make the final calls and they probably discussed adding onto 2020 via a DLC vs releasing this "update" as a new product, but a DLC isn't going to make as much money as selling a whole brand spankin' new product, nor would a DLC meet their financial goals. I'm sure that discussion wasn't a long one. The other discussion that was probably much longer: "How do we sell the existing fools [customers] that bought 2020 on this new one since it doesn't look all that different?" The big DLC vs standalone decision probably didn't even have anything to do with coding challenges, because the "YES" men down the ladder will tell their bosses they can make it happen either way. At least those higher ups will meet their quotas and get those big bonuses. Another vacation home! Yay, how exciting!

Oh well.. The dummies like myself on the other hand, that spent a bunch of money in the store, well... I doubt those purchases will come over... I guess that's because I'm too lazy to go elsewhere or root through "free" downloads, malware and garbage or go to the developers websites outside of the store to do the transactions though, so that's on me. This kind of reminds me of another Microsoft product: Windows 10. It was fine, it worked, but Microsoft needs more money so say hello to the shiny new Windows 11 that you didn't need, with a crappier UI and more bloatware included, still running on the same NT core behind the scenes. By the way, can someone post a year by year analysis of Windows releases up here for me in your explanation of how very wrong I am, and thanks in advance.

Life is great..

Maybe do some research before doomposting. Their official QnA:

"Will all purchases users have made from the Marketplace be transferrable to the new simulator?

With very few exceptions, virtually all add-ons that work in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) today will function in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Add-ons that were purchased from the in-simulator Marketplace will not need to be re-purchased in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024."

"Owned MSFS 2020 Content

For any content you purchased outside of the simulator, the Community Folder will continue to work as it did in MSFS 2020. Any content in your MSFS 2020 Community Folder can simply be copied over to the new MSFS 2024 Community Folder, and the vast majority of that content should work in MSFS 2024.
For any content you purchased in the Marketplace in MSFS 2020, that content will show up as owned in the Content Manager (in MSFS 2024 called “My Library”) at launch for you to use in MSFS 2024, and the vast majority of that content should work in MSFS 2024. This availability does not require developers to sign off on their content.
Owned MSFS 2020 Content that has been Upgraded* for MSFS 2024

For content you already purchased in MSFS 2020, upgrades to Microsoft-produced content (e.g. Reno Air Races, Local Legends, Famous Flyers, Expert Series) will be free to you.
For content you already purchased in MSFS 2020, upgrades to all other (non-Microsoft) developers’ content will have two potential options based on each developer’s discretion:
The developer can make the upgrade free.
The developer can choose to charge a fee for the upgrade."

They shared the same info about Marketplace during that FlyExpo or how it is called.
But I guess it's better to cry and whine how You lost Your addons, right?
Hahahahahaha! I got a bite!
