Simulate explosion?
Are there any mods to simulate an explosion when you crash?

Commenting on an old thread, sorry. I also wish MSFS would include damage and crash simulations. I would recommend Kerbal Space Program as a fun alternative for anyone seeking that kind of fun. It is unfortunate the beauty of MSFS 2020 isn't also able to display some glorious unplanned disassembly.

Dead Pilot bodies do not see explosions. They only see a Menu :steamhappy:

You can trigger a custom animation when making custom mods, so potentially. That's what I used for this mod that triggers displaying an animation, a virtual drone swarm / fireworks in this example - https://youtu.be/2NpmEKeyXtQ?t=41 and parachutes in this mod - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vn16DR6kcGQ

i'd like the game to permanently active pause as the game over screen. i've had a couple terminal flights where I just don't know what happened and it would be nice to see exactly what i had missed (or if there is a sim problem, like the invisible but solid bridges)

If the Sim had a flightrecorder like it had in the past, this would be pretty easy to do, really not getting it why they left out a flightrecorder on start (its planned on the roadmap for 2022 to be added)

I have read that there are no explosions in MSFS 2020, because the aircraft manufacturers don't like it when we see their aircraft explode.

And since everything is licensed, Microsoft has to adhere to it. There was something similar with car racing simulators, when licensed vehicles crashed, there was no damage model.

i think it's more that there's no point for it. It's a flight simulator, not a crash simulator. I don't think there's been damage in a microsoft flight sim since the 90s where your plane would just break into multiple pieces. This isn't a combat sim where you'd be trying to make it back to a base with a damaged aircraft after a mission. If damage is what Ryan is looking for, he's better off hitting up DCS or going old-school and cranking up Falcon for that aspect. In any real-life simulator I've been in, if you crash or stress the aircraft beyond perf limits the simulator stops and freezes. The closest they get to an explosion is a red light and a buzzer.

Could it be done though? Sure. Probably. Just not much reason for a modder to do it though.

rettarrd comments... "It's not a crash simulator"... This is one of weirdest comments on here. Of course it's not a crash simulator. It's not a wind simulator either. It's not a cloud simulator either. It's not an airport simulator either.... But it adds a level of immersion to the sim (not game) as do all the other elements.
