No support for MS Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick?
I was so thrilled for this game and tested it through Xbox Game Pass on PC right now. I unpacked my good old reliable Sidewinder Precision Pro (USB) joystick who has served me well for decades... only to find out that apparently it is not supported by the game :-(
Not only is there no configuration preset for the joystick ingame but I cannot even configure it at all (see screenshot: https://ibb.co/TL6M5TL)

Does anyone know a solution for this?
Otherwise this is a no deal for me. The joystick is perfectly fine, if I cannot play the game with it I won't play the game at all. Real shame since I was really looking forward to it.

Same for me. Would not have expected this at all. Too bad. Please fix as soon as possible, please!

I have an old Sidewinder force feedback 2, it had no presets but it let me assign controls to it without much problem.

When trying to assign controls make sure you click the search for input or whatever its called, then press the button you want.

There are also options at the left for filtering unassigned controls, essential and so on.

You can search there for keywords of what you are looking for, i.e throttle and it shows all throttle controls.

The sidewinder ffb2 allowed me to use rudder axis, throttle for the slider and so on. Could even adjust deadzones and sensitivity.

Hopefully you get it to working..

Thanks, I'll check it out later today, however since the area where you would usually see all the available control options is completely blank for me I don't even have a chance to assign anything at all. Or at least so I think (see my linked screenshot above).

I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro that works flawlessly on MFSX.
MFS20 detects it and you can see the calibration parameters, however, BIG HOWEVER, none of the flight controls work.
I tried to assign some of them manually, and then they do not work or fail to work as intended.
For example, I get my throttle assigned to slider X, it gives me either full throttle of cut throttle... same with roll and pitch, full up or down, other features im unable to assign.

I did the things on the video above, does not solve the joystick control problem.

I went back to MSFX and sure enough, my joystick works wonderfully again, all the buttons up and running...

Come on, MFS20, I paid for the premium game, many people have these type of peripheral issues... why?
Please, fix it!

@Steg79: Many thanks for sharing this, I was no able to understand how I can go ahead to start assigning joystick controls to the game for my Sidewinder Precision Pro.
So far it's a pretty basic setup and I don't know if I'll be able to keep using the joystick for the game once it gets more complex for the aircraft control, but as a beginner to flight sims I was at least able to assign controls with the help of the youtube video in a way that I was able to successfully complete the first two Cessna training sessions using the joystick.

By the way: Does anyone know if it is possible to import/export and share controls profiles from the game? Even though my controls set is veeery basic right now maybe it'll help someone else to get started... and of course I will try to keep working on it to improve it. Would be happy to share the result if I know how.

Wont work for me. I know how to manually assign keys to the joystick.
I mean, yes, I can use the throttle, roll and pitch but it's all at full or nothing, for example, the throttle travel is full or nothing, same with roll or pitch.

They got to fix this! Again, works great in MFSX, why not here!

I made the same assumptions and as total beginner to this type of game, I have spent the last five hours trying to learn the most basic with the keyboard and have not enjoyed it. How could ms not see this complaint coming. The metacritic reviews were stellar and I fell for it. I plan on submitting to metacritic my experience with this and save the dollars of other nubes.

No problem, glad it helped you out, i had watched that video before going into control mappings and it certainly helped me from trying to figure it all out myself.
