To change the default app installation drive
To install your apps on a separate drive on Windows 10, follow these steps:
1. Press Windows key + I together to open Settings.
2. Click on System > Storage.
3. Click on Change where new content is saved under More storage settings.
4. Select D: drive (or the drive of your choice) using the drop-down menu under New apps will save to.
You can also install an app and later move the app to a different drive.
To move an app to a different drive:
1. Press Windows key + I together to open Settings.
2. Click on Apps > Apps & features.
3. Click on the app that you want to move, and select Move.
4. Select the destination drive.
It change just the launcher location with "Steam Mover" I think because installation of pakages is in the launcher.
I will try with click and drag, and change the pakages path in the launcher but I don't know how to change it without an uptade when it ask the path.
I have a 250GB M.2 SSD card installed on my motherboard and this is my Drive C. Not realizing how much space MSFS was going to use I am now down to 20 gigs of space left on this drive as it also contains my system files. I am afraid that I am not going to have room for growth of MSFS on this drive. I have already logged close to 60 hours of time and really would prefer not to loose this history. I do have other SSD drives (not M.2) on my computer with plenty of space on them... can I move MSFS to one of those or will I need to do a fresh install and loose my data? Will MFS launch from a different drive other than C:? I am running the MSFS from Steam. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
PART2
in doing more research... there is also a flight Sim folder on my Drive "I" which is where I have asked Steam to install all of my games. This folders path and size is SteamLibrary/steamapps/common and it is 1.6 gigs with game and its files are residing on my "I" drive with all of my other games. What is taking up all the space on my drive "c" is under my user/appdata/roaming/microsoft flight simulator and this folder is 108 gigs in size. Looking into my steam settings.... my files are located on drive "I". What is the /appdata/roaming/microsoft flight simulator folder on my drive "c" which is using 108gigabytes for? Can it be moved to my "I" drive?
PART3
In researching on this forum I see that you can move the files under settings/Apps... I see Microsoft Flight Simulator there but it does not have the option to move this app and the modify is greyed out as well. Im now confused as how to proceed without deleting and starting over. I would like this entire application to reside on Drive I in my system which is meant for games and is a large SSD drive... not my system Drive (M.2) that is on my motherboard.
HELP PLEASE!!
Hint: don't delete your existing Community or Official until the move is a success, not a worry even if you do but but with the 106 hanging over your head best safe than sorry
