You'll need to learn 3D modelling. As you said, Blender is free and actually quite good. Certainly good enough to achieve this goal. You'll need to understand PBR (physically based rendering) and texture formats, how to make and edit them. You'll need to download the SDK as already discussed. You'll also need to know the plane you're making very well, at least if you want to do a good job of it. Not just the exterior shape and design but the cockpit, avionics and systems. You might even need some programming knowledge.
Above all this, you'll need to be highly motivated and determined to see it through.
