ATC "Please Reset Transponder"
I went for the first flight in a while this evening after a 7GB+ update. The first flight I selected my departure (KLNK) and arrival airport (KOMA), selected my aircraft as Cessna Citation CJ4, and launched. One of the first things I noticed upon the game loading was that I did *not* start on the ground. I started in the air, gear up flaps up, which was not what I wanted or had selected. Second thing I noticed was that the ATC kept telling me to reset my transponder. The only way I know how to do this is by pressing Ctrl + T, which I did twice. This did not correct the problem and I ended my flight. On returning to the main menu I pressed the icon for my xbox profile image (upper right hand corner) and the game suddenly crashed. First of all, why did it start me in the air when I had departure and arrival airport selected? Secondly, why did my transponder need to be reset? Thirdly, how do you reset your transponder? Fourthly, why did the game crash when I went to look at the Xbox profile options?

I would have posted this in the MSFS zendesk for bug reporting but for some reason it just redirects me in a loop. I'm very unhappy with Adobo Studios right now. I paid a lot of money for a gaming experience that so far has been super buggy and unplayable half the time and now I can't even report bugs to the developers.

From my observation is that the transponder gets automatically entered when you ask for clearance with ATC. You need to have this whole process in the ATC for your copilot to enter the squawk code into the transponder.

When you start on the runway or midair, this whole process is skipped. So your aircraft will start with a blank squawk code in the transponder, even though technically your flight already has a transponder assigned.

That's why the ATC asks you to reset your transponder. So you need to be familiar where the transponder is located. And enter the number manually. As soon as you enter it correctly, the ATC should stop bothering you with it.

Check out my 787-10 guide on troubleshooting the transponder. I know it's for a different aircraft as yours but the concept is generally the same across all aircrafts.

I understand this but I selected to start the flight in question from the ground. I don't know why it started me off in flight since that wasn't what I selected. It seems to be an issue with this plane specifically. It hasn't happened in any other plane after selecting a runway for departure. The transponder issue is less a problem but still of note since I shouldn't have to manually reset my transponder in midair when my flight has been logged and my transponder code has been squawked already. Normally I would agree that it was pilot error, and that I should just reset my transponder, unfortunately this seems to be a rather big bug since I selected a departure airport and runway in my pre-flight menu, yet it still started me out in midair instead of on the ground.

Maybe you didn't fully complete the flight planning process from the world map or it gets reset somewhere between the planning and you starting the flight.

What I always do is I zoom in to the airport, and pick a gate dot and select it as a departure. Then I do the same with the arrival airport, zoom in and pick a gate dot and select it as an arrival.

Then I select which departure pattern and arrival/approach pattern as well. Making sure that everything is properly selected, the gate, both departing and arrival is still correct. Then just click Fly now.

The easiest way to get around this is to terminate IFR with ATC and then click on the option to retry.

That's exactly what I did, though. That's why I'm saying it was a bug.

I'll have to try that and see it it fixes the issue with the aircraft in question the next time I play.
