Note the observation, older routers and firewall software. This may not be the case with you, but it's worth noting for others as there is an immense variation out there for broadband connections in every household.
In my case, it needed to be set to normal. I was pulling my hair out because my other desktop, my laptop and my phone were getting the 113 Mbit/s over wifi but my gaming pc wasn't. It was getting 15 Mbit/s tops. Right on par with the speed everything was downloading in steam and over the internet for that matter. It seems to have switched somewhere after updating MSFS with the update that caused many of us to have CTD on loading screen. Maybe it's related, maybe not, but seems suspicious because before that update, my wifi speeds on this pc were normal.
Is microsoft pushing some kind of Windows settings updates in with their MSFS updates? Wouldn't think so but I am suspicious. Afterall, they are the same company.
And it's only on Steam... On Battle.net and Origin is fine.
DId you run a speedtest from MLAB? If so, and if you did my suggestion, then try to type in the part to disable. Maybe yours was enabled and needs to be disabled. I think different strokes for different folks as far as what I've read. Depends on hardware.
In the Windows search bar, type Command and look for ‘Command Prompt’
In the menu select “Run as administrator”
Enter: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable
Press enter
Reboot your computer
or better yet, power down and power back on.
Oh wait. the last part didnt sink in. Half asleep. Did you go into Steam settings under download and make sure there is no bandwidth limit?
Yeah I did that.
I also did that and nothing changed. But after that, I changed server to Spain, and was able to get a download speed of 14Mb/s. Still far from 60Mb/s, but with this change, I was able to see that the speed problem is within Steam servers.
Edit: Downloading speed went down again, 800 kb/s...
Edit: But you say it's only in Steam so it has to do with Steam. Mine was net wide. Even downloading files from websites, I only got 15 mbit/s tops.
Ahum... that sucks! Did you try to call your ISP? But anyway, thanks for you help.
No, I didn't call my ISP. I reset my router/modem a few times and that didn't work either. The only thing that worked was setting that autotuninglevel to normal.
ARU U NUTS ????
If you're talking about downloads within the game, i.e. after launching it, that has nothing to do with Steam.
