Random engine failure/shut down A320Neo
So I'm currently on a real time flight from San Francisco to Honolulu, Hawaii. Of course sometimes I'm afk and not checking on the flight all the time. Crusing altitude is 40000 ft, auto pilot is set and everything is calm and working normal. About 10 minutes ago I came back to check and saw that I was like 2000 ft above the ocean, somewhere over the pacific. I was about to take a swim with my plane and saw that my engines were offline. I managed to reactivate them and hardly avoided a crash into the ocean (80 ft before impact.....).
I deactivated all possible random failures on my plane for this flight and I also had plenty of fuel left (42%). So what was the issue? Did the auto pilot suddenly decide to switch off the engines or was this just a bug? Can random failures occur despite the fact that the option is deactivated? I've never experienced something like that on the A320Neo before.

Maybe someone else can report the same phenomenon?

Keep the APU and the APU running after starting the engines. And your engine should stay on, at least until they fix the issue. Until then, it's a working workaround.

It seems to be a new feature with the latest patch, there are numerous reports of engines just switching off its happend to me with 3 planes and 3 destinations, as soon as you start getting close everything shuts down and your flying a giant glider.

Yes I have the exact same problems with engine 1 on the A320neo. Like it was forecasted one day before the patch when I took my flight to Hawaii. I will try the APU trick.
Hopefully they fill fix this soon...One definitively needs a lot of patience with Microsoft.

EDIT: The APU trick works fine. No engine failure/shutdown anymore after leaving the APU master switch on. Go through everything on your checklist and exclude turning APU off. Then you can proceed your filght almost normally. There is just one thing which has been mentioned on other threads: Sometimes your stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ co-pilot or the Microsoft poltergeist reduces your brightness of your auto pilot settings (high, altimeter, speed) and your virtual horizont in your cockpit. Just set the brightness up again. You have to keep an eye on it especially when you land.

I also have a possible workaround that I tested last night, which I plan on testing again today. Place fuel in the middle tanks as well and turn them on. Ran the engine at 100% with parking brake enabled at the gates for 5 minutes. Turned off the APU and APU Bleed and they engine continued to run. Went into the Fuel dropdown, removed all the fuel from the center tanks, turned off the center tanks, then ran the 100% throttle test again, for 5 minutes. Engine 1 continued to run. My next test will include the same things, while taxiing. Once its tested and confirmed, will update the thread with findings.

Ran a second test this morning. Did original start, per checklist and within 15 seconds, engine 1 shutdown. Went ahead, did the same tests as last night and also taxiied to the runway, and ran engines at full power for 3 minutes. During the whole duration, from ramp test to taxi and hold short test, engine 1 continued to run. Good to see there is an alternative to the APU running all the time. Better than spawning at the runway as well. It's more fun going through the motions.

All of that above happened to me. I cant even start the engines, because the batterie buttons do nothing when i use them. When the co-pilot starts the engines, everything is still turned off but i hear the engines running.
And if i start from the runway, game crashes a few minutes after start.

Everything was fine before the patch. I never thought that a single patch could destroy a whole game.

Here's a new one .. at least for me here, I have a 100 meg connection and the game just started whining that I dont have enough bandwidth and that photo... scenery wouldnt be avaliable. Its just me using the net here, and I dont have bandwidth issues with anything else so what gives, the server is bogged down on their end?

This is the same issue I am having. Sometimes the battery buttons do nothing and I cannot bring the avionics up. Sometimes the battery works, the APU starts and I can start engine 2 but engine 1 keeps spooling and won't fire up.

I have only had 1 successful engine run on the A320 since the patch after around 8 attempted start-ups. This is my favourite aircraft to fly so rather annoyed that after waiting and messing around for 3 days to get the patch to download and install, I now have issues I never had before!

Even though there's currently a bug with electrics in some planes, A320 pilots often leave the APU running in real life so you probably should do anyway.

I know this is an old post but for anyone looking for a solution I've rewritten some of the fuel system code to fix the problem because it still existed here in 2023. Check out 7heAngryVe7eran on YouTube for a video explanation and link to the code that you'll copy/paste into all your airbus flight_tuning.cfg.
