Downloaded on Xbox game pass. Would i need to redownload?

I played the sim with the gamepass trial and want to purchase on steam. will it require me to reinstall game or will it find the game?

You can copy the "App" folder from the Game Pass version to the Steam one.

The Game Pass default installation location is: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe

The Steam default installation location is:
C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator

Do you mean copy the folder, or the contents ? (I'd have thought copying the folder wouldn't work)

Copy the contents in "\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe" (Game Pass/Microsoft Store) and paste to "\Microsoft Flight Simulator" (Steam)

You'll need to reinstall just the base part. The 90+GB, no you won't need to reinstall
