"Jerky" or "Stuttering" controls. Not a sensitivity issue.
I fly with a joystick. I've also tried flying with the keyboard, just to see if it was my joystick that was acting up.

It's not a sensitivity issue, but my controls are very "jerky". Even when grounded, if I look at the aircraft's visual feedback when I move my joystick (or numlock 4/6), the input is very jerky, stuttering, what ever other similar word I could describe it with.

This makes it impossible to fly. I tried formatting my PC, redownloading the game and giving it a fresh install. My controls are still acting up. I'm losing my wits here :(

The game itself is running smoothly. It's just the aircraft movement that is causing me issues. The closest I can come to explaining the problem, is that it appears that the aircraft's movement is lagging. Delayed input from any movement action I perform.

Any suggestions to what I could try fixing this?

It's got to be some sort of bug because I'm having the same issue. My game thinks my left trigger is down, and I've verified through the control panel that there are no issues with my triggers on my brand new gamepad.

I'm seeing similar (granted an old Logitech Attack 3) but even with sensitivity all the way down I barely touch the joystick and it seems to move in jumps very rapidly going too far, then you just end up chasing it all over. Really odd.

It's because the sensitivity is FPS dependent. It must be a bug, they cannot have wanted to do it this way. The temporary solution is to force max FPS to 30 frames per second. I discovered this by doing some other task on the PC at the same time.

There's a youtube video that shows this correlation between fps and controller sensitivity.

I have the exact same thing, its even a logitech attack 3 like the other dude said, maybe its about the old joystick?

Another thread taught me one thing to help a lot, don't set an "elevator Up/Down" "Aileron Left/Right" setting, just use the generic axes. That solved much of it, still twitchy, but nothing like the issue I was seeing.

This is a good point. If you do set up down it’s interprets the joystick movement as a series of button presses, rather than a continuously polling axis. It’s very easy to make this mistake.

Try locking the frames at 30 and see if it helps the controller sensitivity. For me it’s now as smooth as dcs or xplane. Annoying as hell I have to limit frames on a 144hz gsync monitor but it was unflyable with unlimited frames.

Thank you so much it works now

I’ve tried brand new and 10 year old MS Sidewinder FF 2 - it’s actually better on the older joystick , possibly because it doesn’t generate as many points on an axis.

If you want fully consistent controls (great that axis assignment is working for you) you need to run fixed FPS at around 30, otherwise it will constantly scale your pitch, roll, yaw and trim to your FPS.
