With that said, there must be a reason your magenta line isn't appearing. Does it happen with all aircraft, or only sometimes or with specific aircraft? Are you choosing a destination when you create your flight?
Also, I noticed this weekend that the new Simbrief Dispatcher can be a bit temperamental when editing flight plans started with the free flight menu. Double check you have a route before you hit the Fly button.
I believe this is also why sometimes when you enter a flight plan into the FMS or into any GA avionics, ATC is completely unaware of the plan and you will not be able to ask for IFR clearance. It is b/c the data has not been entered into the world map and therefore ATC knows nothing about it. It is a major oversight and a terrible thing to have to put up with.
This is the kind of stuff that should have been fixed long long long ago and is core to a flight simulator experience. And it has nothing to do with being able to walk around in first person or go view the Grand Canyon in 1 million times more detail than anyone cares about or ever cared about. Perfect example of core fundamental flight 'stuff' being broken and yet never fixed or addressed in favor of other eye candy or stuff that does not matter in the least. Lack of focus creates a broken product.
