Is it possible to add a rudder trim to an aircraft?
I'm looking for a way to add and control rudder trim (via keyboard shortcuts)

By default I believe they are bound to ...

Ctrl + 0 (zero on the number-pad) for rudder trim left, and..
Ctrl + Enter for rudder trim right.

You can, of course, rebind them to whatever key combination or control that you prefer.

Then no, unless you want to get into modding.

You'd have to do it through the SDK, and I'm not sure you could apply it to third-party planes. It might simply be easier to adjust the wind.

Some aircraft do not have rudder trim. The C172 does not. It has a mechanical trim tab on the rudder that is set for cruise flight so minimal rudder pedal pressure is required. However, because it is set for cruise and a specific airspeed it does not help if you are in a different configuration. The 152 also does not have rudder trim. I do not remember if it has a mechanical trim tab on the rudder. Most GA single engine aircraft do not have rudder or aileron trim. You could add it in but it would change the overall behavior of the aircraft.

I sort of did it through FSUIPC (registered version). I assigned two buttons of my yoke to the rudder left and rudder right events (*not* 'rudder trim' events !). It works even with a real USB rudder plugged to the sim.

Things have changed since 2021. There's now sliders for authority and parasitic drag that you can use to introduce a couple degrees of yaw bias.

In 2021, I didn't know a whole lot about 3PD emulators, but I do know more now about FSUIPC7 and SPAD.neXt. With either, you could create a macro command that just barely nudges the rudder, and keeps it in that position. I guess...

No third party tool or modding necessary unless they changed how the keyboard controls work. Just use the normal keyboard controls for rudder as they work like trim anyway. At least, that's how MS flight controls always worked in the past.
