I have flown gliders. But strictly speeking you are correct. Sailplanes can achieve sustained flight whereas gliders can not
.... but either name is common and generally accepted... the way I fly its more like a glider... :bf109:

I've flown gliders in real life, three of the places I've flown them are Estrella Sailport, Minden-Tahoe Airport and TSA Gliderport. I have never called them "sailplanes" (though not incorrect) nor have I have ever heard anyone at the clubs itself call them that, it's always been gliders. "Glider in tow" will even be said over the CTAF. The FAA even publishes something called "Glider Flying Handbook".

You can use it together with Touching Cloud’s Kinetic Assistant which is supposed to give some proper thermals and to get you airborne:

Yeah, and it's a ONE WAY STREET. If you decide to use that Kinetic Assistant, it can bork the rest of your aircraft (or many at least).

So you REALLY better want to glide. In the meantime, gliders ARE planned for a future MSFS update.

Oh a lovely place isn't it - I love the hairpin bends on the road up from Thirsk.

Is the glider/sailplane thing UK English vs American English? I've heard both but in the UK it's glider every time!

Hope to see one soon, fed up of turning the engines off and pretending.

You are full of ♥♥♥♥. Sailplanes ARE gliders. They can and do achieve sustained flight using a variety of techniques utilizing lift found in thermic conditions, as well as various forms of lift from ridge lift, wave lift, coastal ridge soaring etc. You have obviously no knowledge of actual gliding because if you did you'd never utter such absurdities.

Our local calls itself a gliderport.
