You were not cleared to land, clear the runway

As Macman says, get clearance.

Move your mouse to the top of the screen and select the atc tab.
Scroll down the list to select nearest airports, select the correct one and then request landing clearance.

It's as easy as that mate.

Also, make sure you are landing on the correct runway. 09 and 27 occupy the same space, but one you approach from the west and the other you approach from the east. If you go the wrong way, ATC will tell you you weren't cleared for landing. Likewise if you land on 24L when you were cleared to land on 24R.

You can use the VFR map in-game to see the airport quickly and make sure you are landing the right way.

Another note on Runways for beginners, the "Active Runway" is the one which should have the wind towards you for better Takeoff Lift and Landing Resistance. You can select this by seeing it in World Map. OR wait until near the Airport within 100nm to contact Tower to provide one then you can also request a different Approach & Runway. It's weird to work properly due to Wind so many not allow this always. If you already had Runway set in Flight Plan then this can be bad to change presently due to bugs they are ignoring whilst working on the "Mod" instead (Jesus).
Similarly you maybe asked to Taxi to the opposite Runway you wanted to then Takeoff from there even though it's doable but is due to the "Active Runway" selected by Tower due to Wind but the middle finger works too.

You can always use the weather wizard to point the wind the way you want it to go, which is much easier than reprogamming the flight computer.
