Jeppesen Private Pilot Manual
So on the recommendation from someone here (Twelvefield, maybe?). I grabbed a copy of the linked Private Pilot Manual from St. Bezos. It arrived this week and I got a chance to crack it open today.

I'm just noticing that is the Ninth Edition from some ancient time called "1993." I looked it up again today and see some copies that say Jeppesen, a Boeing company, so I already know they're newer.

Anyone familiar enough with the work to know if the later editions are worth upgrading to over one from the early 90s? Looks like I paid about half price for mine compared to the newest one (to be fair I should have looked around a little more but I got the impression it was out of print). I found this out while looking for the supplements it recommends to go with it, so hell I'm tempted to get the whole Part 61 kit despite probably only ever flying sim.

I had one from around 1997 time frame. That was the first time I started lessons. Then I got married and well.....a ring was more important than flying. At the time. I've since wised up and now I'm pursuing my license again.

A lot has changed since my first go around. My ground school is online through King Schools for the most part, there are a lot more glass cockpits and / or hybrid digital / steam cockpits with nice GPS's in them.....often time's 2 GPS's in them. There are awesome iPad apps and kneeboard accessories to use with the iPad as well as paid subs for Foreflight and others that give you more information in pre-flight and in the cockpit than we ever had before. It is insane how much has changed outside the manual to say nothing of what has changed within it.
