Crashing to desktop
No matter what Graphic setting do i use it constantly crashes to desktop sometimes in menu sometimes during flight it just randomly crashes, any solutions to this anyoing problem? thanks

If you use any addons outside of Marketplace purchases, try renaming vour current Community folder (ie, to _Community) and create an empty Community folder in its place. That way you can easily test if a bad addon is causing the problem.

Also, try disabling the 3D hangar that runs in the background. MSFS already is a high usage program, and the 3D hangar adds load. I disabled it on my system and that stopped the crashes for me.

There are dozens of reasons the sim crashes. If the sim made crash reports, diagnosing this would be easier, but if wishes were horses...

Beyond those two great suggestions above, I'd take a look at your USBs. If they disconnect while the game is being played, it crashes. Make sure your physical connections are all snug. Try unplugging everything but mouse and keyboard to see if the sim runs like that.

My only fix for this was a complete reinstall. The stupid update system corrupted some files in my official packages folder. Since there is no way to verify these against what should be there, my only options was to reinstall or go folder by folder and try to find which one was borked. Re-installing was quite painful.

This sim does make crash reports, but who can figure them out? lol They are here. C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\MSFSReport-OldCrashes

All you had to do was rename your community folder than re verify the files.

Without addons had same problem after fresh install. community folder is empty now same thing. Its so random yesterday only during flight then did some windows setting it worked good like 2 hours of gameplay nothing happend. And today same old story just looking around in the menu option and boom crash...
do not know ♥♥♥♥ about this crash reports...

thanks alot, still trying all the things that i can find from the community to fix it :D also in safe mode same thing... deleted the community folder so no 3th party addons

The sim requires a very stable & corrupt free environment....

Open a command prompt with admin rights…

Go through each of the following steps one at a time. Copy each line, one at a time , paste it into the Dos window (crtl + V) and press return

and it will then run. Wait until each runs and finishes before you move on to the next one.

When you are completely finished, Restart your computer and then try to see in MS2020 will start and run properly

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /checkhealth

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /scanhealth

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth

sfc /scannow

Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore

Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

RESTART your computer as the last step. Then go for a test flight.

If the install is fine, that won't do anything of use. I cannot believe it is still being used for every single problem that arises on the forums. Every FS 2020 problem IS NOT RELATED TO THE WINDOWS INSTALLATION.

The sim requires a clean and corrupt free Windows install. How you going to ensure that?
The commands have been around in the official forums and helped quite a few for several years now..

Your advice is wrong. Period. Face it.

I would only check the ignition if the ignition had something to do with the problem. If the ignition was bad but had nothing to do with the problem then you found 2 issues but that does not mean they are related. Correlation is not causation.

Correct troubleshooting starts at the source. Start with FS 2020. That is where the problem is occurring. To blame something outside of it without checking FS 2020 and trying to fix it is barking up the wrong tree. The OS is running far more than FS 2020 and if it had serious issues, then there would be other issues far beyond anything in FS 2020. One game crashing is not evidence that the OS is corrupt. Even two or three crashing is not. Games crash. Apps crash. That doesn't mean the OS is corrupt. Your OS should not be continually corrupting itself. That would represent a totally different problem. And sfc and dism would only put a band-aid over the real problem. At that point, I'd start looking to hardware like SSDs or hard drives.

You have to troubleshoot, not guess. So by process of elimination you start with FS 2020. Once you are sure it is 100% and good to go and still have issues then you can broaden out your troubleshooting to OS. But if you have no issues besides FS 2020, I still would not blame the OS. I would need a lot more evidence to blame the OS than a few games crashing. Event viewer has tons of information in it and that can lead you to other issues that may be happening.

But for sure every problem does not come down to sfc /scannow and dism. That is just really bad troubleshooting and shows a fundamental misunderstanding of Windows. The only reason Windows help desks throw this out there is b/c they are troubleshooting Windows problems, not FS. They are validating Windows b/c the user is having issues related to Windows. An issue related to one game does not mean it is an issue with Windows. If that were the case, all of us would be constantly reinstalling and re-imaging Windows b/c I'm sure many of us have had various games crash at various times.

The game cannot corrupt a Windows install. If everything else is working properly on your computer other than MSFS, than it is a MSFS problem with nothing to do about your Windows install

Many keep trying to help you grasp this simple thing but you just keep reposting this nonsense.
