Bugs aside, for me as a digital tourist, 2020 is much simpler for flight planning. I need the bloggers to start posting YouTube tutorials as I've been unable to successfully complete an ILS plan in 2024. Something I can do in 2020.
As for scenery, generally 2024 is an improvement. I like having ground texture. In 2020 if I run off the runway I can still take off. 2024 lets you know how rough the ground is. However, some scenery improvements in 2024 are superb. Try the Grand Canyon - stunning. The rendering of mountains seems more detailed in most areas, way better than the melted and merging colours of mountains in much of 2020. I don't regret buying 2024, but at the moment I'm still using 2020 as well. I won't bother with a career path until the bugs have been sorted.

to be fair, the grand canyon is their promotional area. So it makes sense that this looks stunning. If you don't mind, can you post a screenshot from Innsbruck Airport LOWI, as in, get on the runway 26, and set 12:00 and be so kind and post it here. I really want to see how "different non promotional" areas look in 2024.

Here is the screenshot I took in 2020.

FS2020 is far superior for airports at night.

I’ve noticed no real difference between 2020 and 2024 when it comes to terrain and AI rendered buildings.

2024 is hideous with the bugs. Sometimes my character is half way in the fuselage. Passengers are in the wings.

2024 is lacking in customisation.

For what it is worth, I play with all the graphics settings maxed out and everything considered, at the moment , 2020 is superior in almost every regard.
I just which they had left 2024 untill it worked so many hours to get it to work, Tobi eye tracker has to use a third party program to work, and as for flight panels, still no luck getting them to work, which they had just updated 2020, rather than change everything, so ok there's a career mode and others, but that could have been a seperate purchase for those who want it, i just want GA flying as i no longer have money to fly anymore.... unistalled 2024 and getting my money back again...

It's the same game. All versions connect to the XBox app for license verification and game updates, but for some reason (with MSFS 2020 at least) the Marketplace purchases aren't synchronized between the Microsoft Store version and the Steam version. I personally went with the Microsoft Store version for MSFS 2020 because I felt like Steam was just an extra layer.
Thanks

yeah i have 2020 on steam, uses my microsoft account to sign in, and 2024 off the microsoft store which also uses my microsoft account. wish i could have had them both on steam but the version i got, which arrived a week after launch, came with the microsoft store code

On most ground you can takeoff in GA aircraft. It might be bumpy, but it can be done. If 2024 is offering too much rolling resistance due to the terrain modelling, that is incorrect. Of course it depends on the type of terrain.

Atm 2020 is less buggy. FS2024 has so much potential though, I'm sure in a year and a half or 2 years it'll be better than MSFS2020 in every aspect.

Both 2020 and 2024 are aweful. Its Simbrief, Navigraph, GSX, SLC, PMDG, FENIX, Active sky, REX, SayIntentions, FSTraffic that make software like 2020 playable. 2020 and 2024 are purely empty shells. And in 2020 i use the default scenery and its AWEFUL. Wrong taxiways, spots, missing buildings, jetways, bumps in taxiways. In that regard its MS strategy: deliver a horrible piece of software that people need to fix with third party software...aweful strategy

It's an enormous improvement even over the latest P3D version.
