Asobo said they would continue to support MSFS 2020. I'm not going to predict whether you will still be able to fly MSFS 2020 in the year 2035, however I believe the capability to play it will continue for another three or four years at the very least. And I say that from the experience of playing older versions of Flight Simulator.

I mean, good thing is, you can fly offine (maps will look horrbile tho), but you can use map enchancement mod, which can take the newest BING or google map, so maybe we will be able to leech from the map pool further than they want to.

MSFS 2024 is hands down better.
My opinion is not your oinion
My opinion is not an option
Neither.

Turning Flight Sim into a sports game where each one only lasts a short time before you have to drop another 120 is stupid
And is it better to get this here or on Microsoft Store? Given win10 will no longer be supported by october in which steam will stop for 10 users shortly after. It seems more streamlined to download and install via steam though

As you did not specify a list I put forward:

TRU Simulation Full Flight Simulators (FFS) covering piston, turboprop and jet. Especially the Odyssey Aura modules.

It's the same game. All versions connect to the XBox app for license verification and game updates, but for some reason (with MSFS 2020 at least) the Marketplace purchases aren't synchronized between the Microsoft Store version and the Steam version. I personally went with the Microsoft Store version for MSFS 2020 because I felt like Steam was just an extra layer.

I believe Steam version expects players to login from their client only similar to Discord or nVidia Game Overlay - not like using a VPN.

What I have found when playing another truly online game with coop enabled, there isn't any noticable difference playing with Steam or game client. However, I found downloading updates faster on Steam client.

Well I was hoping 2024 was going to fix 2020 issues. But b/c they added so many more features, and bugs with them, there is more tech debt in 2024 than 2020. Not less. So that means the core issues in 2020 that were ported over to 2024 as is, get pushed farther back. Right now they have to fix fundamental issues in 2024 just to get it to be decent. As such some of our complaints in 2020 that are in 2024 may never get addressed or it will be 2 or 3 years. By that time there may be some new shiny sim on the horizon like 2028 which just means that unresolved tech debt from previous versions is being rolled into new versions and a new shiny coat of paint is put over it to hide the massive tech debt that is there. If people are wowed by simple features then the core fundamental broken things won't ever need to be fixed so long as the new features continue to wow everyone.

So for those of you that said they 'could not fix these things in 2020'.....how do you feel now? You bought it hook, line and sinker. Enjoy.
This comment is on point. Finally someone knows what they're talking about
Best advice imho is to buy MSFS 2020 now esp. since it's on sale, and their market place addons are also on sale right now. Then wait to consider upgrading to MSFS 2024 in about a years time. I didn't use MSFS 2020 until they released their 40th Anniversary version (with heli's) came out a couple of years ago and I've been very happy with it ever since. I mainly fly heli's in VR with my Quest Pro/rtx4090 using a Link cable.
